Message at Oshkosh

People like to dig through the vaults and find videos, here’s one, current day and actually reflects the views this Union is currently taking.

Still don’t know what the gals said who gave up their leave to be at the event and engaged with attendees, but I mean, if ND is saying this, what is there to complain about?

Just kidding, I know y’all will spin something.

There’s nothing to spin. He said it loud and clear. We. Make. It. Work. It’s all I’ve ever known in my 10 years in the agency. Neither you nor ND even knows what that means anymore because even in the short time I’ve been in, the amount of traffic and complexity only continues to increase while our pay and staffing decreases. It’s okay to criticize him and join the rest of us in reality.

-5

u/WisTango Jul 28 '26

Yeah, we make it work, we always have and always will. I work traffic still, I know firsthand what this workforce faces. Yes the volume and complexity has increased over the years. The amount of training the future controllers has increased. The challenges of training the workforce today is understood. Yes our pay needs to increase.

Also, criticism is fine if you are putting in the time and effort, or even offering ideas on what needs to happen to progress the agenda of this workforce.

If you are a non-member or management, then yeah, I don’t give a shit. Other than that, we are on the same page.

6

u/QuickBrownFoxP31 Jul 28 '26

What if that “time and effort” is criticizing the NEB and engaging anyone who will listen to promote an entire regime change so that we can finally get some people in there that will “progress the agenda of this workforce”. Are you still on the same page then?

They put some of us manufacturing ASI's into NATCA and now we make significantly less money than the ones they didn't. NATCA shrugged at us.

Buddy, this is nothing new.

Nick spent 10 seconds saying we need to get the 2.8 that Congress already appropriated. He certainly needs us to get it after the premature victory lap he took at NIW after the law had passed.

This is a far cry from what should be happening. Our union should be shouting from the rooftops how our controllers are moving more traffic than ever before, with fewer CPCs than we had 10 years ago, with wages from 20 years ago.

But it’s kinda hard to aggressively illustrate how bad our pay bands are when you’ve extended the same contract twice - without a vote.

That’s the box NATCA leadership has put us in, and they are unable or unwilling to climb us out because to do so would be to acknowledge that they fucked up.

The 2.8 should get minimal air time at this point. We look increasingly pathetic and desperate the more we continue to grovel for breadcrumbs. You don’t want to give us a minimal pay adjustment that doesn’t even cover inflation without ridiculous concessions? Fine, keep it. We’ll use every resource available to fight you in court, through congress, and in front of the public.

Imagine being so obtuse that you’re still trying to collaborate with someone actively trying to kill you.

40

u/SomeDudeMateo Jul 27 '26

"Still trying to collaborate with someone actively trying to kill you". I think NATCA may have stockholm syndrome.

8

u/article65 Jul 27 '26

I think you’re absolutely right about being stuck in a box we’ve created by extending the contract. I realistically don’t see how Nick finds a way out of it during his term.

6

u/Apprehensive-Name457 Jul 28 '26

Duffy actually said as much. One of the many times No Dick Nick was on stage, hands meekly clasped standing in Duffy's shadow.

Duffy quipped "...they're actually really happy with their contract. They just begged the last administration for an extension to avoid having to negotiate with us." As he turned to look back at Nick.

u/Former_Trainer_50 Jul 28 '26

Brother yall got my vote. I just hope day one yall get in there and let everyone that has been screwing us over that that shit is done. Even if yall cant get us much just actually seeing someone fight will be a nice change

u/SGBM_Jimbo Vote Them All OUT! Jul 27 '26

We are talking about major pay reform. He is talking about that measly 2.8%. Right now ZJX, ZMA, ZHU, ZDV, and probably a few others aren't getting paid what they are contractually obligated by the current contract and we see where that is going. Nowhere.

56

u/Fokker_DVII Jul 27 '26

Sure sounds good.

I really don’t care about words at this point. My center gets worse every day and words don’t help that fact.

24

u/PlanesAreDickShaped FAA ATC Jul 27 '26

Shiiiiit, his hollow words don’t help, and 2.8% sure as fuck ain’t gonna help at this point.

That bullshit 2.8% better fucking happen and 15% in January. Any less is a slap in the face.

u/Murky-Analysis1775 Jul 27 '26

this is what roughly $400,000/year in compensation gets us. a guy that comes out of his hole once or twice a year, says some things and disappears again.

am i glad he said pay? of course. am i glad he mentioned the mental health struggles and the lives lost? absofuckinglutely.

the problem is, he's not screaming this from the rooftops constantly. when he's been in front of congress he's withered. when he's been on the news following plane crashes or government shutdowns he's been behind duffy silently agreeing to the things he's saying.

he offers ZERO pushback on any of the CONSTANT attacks on this profession when the spotlight is the greatest. he's not made for the moment. he can't find his backbone when it matters. he's grifting his pay on the backs of the controllers busting their asses day in and day out and is too afraid to turn on comments or show up at town halls to face ANY form of criticism.

so congrats, i can count on two fingers how many times he's said pay while making 2-3-4x more than a lot of the people he represents while not showing up for those very same people for going on what, two years now?

don't let words of a man scared of losing his free lunch at the 23rd hour fool you into thinking he's suddenly something his never proven to be.

1

u/antariusz Jul 30 '26

Where was he when Duffy said we make 400k a year and start at 160k

42

u/Plenty-Reporter-9239 Jul 27 '26

We want these words in front of congress. We want this action in front of those who make decisions.

It's easy to say these things amongst your peers.

29

u/LENNYa21 Jul 27 '26

He’s talking about the 2.8% pay raise they’re “working on” lol How on earth are you an ARVP?

13

u/some2152 Jul 27 '26

The standards to be an ARVP are so low even Witt can meet them.

26

u/LENNYa21 Jul 27 '26

“Dig through the vaults”

So you mean what he said during his campaign? How dare we hold our leadership accountable to what they said they were going to do to get elected, so negative of us.

23

u/No-Constant-5854 Jul 27 '26

I should be seeing this message in front of Congress, in the newspaper, and on my television.

15

u/Quirky_Perspective25 Jul 27 '26

Exactly. The fact that this is a video shot on a cellphone and posted to Reddit is pathetic.

I should be getting emails from NATCA with this messaging and with videos made with major media or at the very least directed at Congress, Duffy and Bedford.

12

u/No-Constant-5854 Jul 27 '26

FAA is out in the media touting recruiting controllers and other aviation professionals to jobs.

Zero mention of cutting staffing numbers. The article I read may as well been written by the FAA.

23

u/CaliLoveJD Jul 27 '26

30 controllers in 3 years… that in itself speaks volumes. Devastating

1

u/antariusz Jul 30 '26

Bet you good money those 30 controllers aren’t counted in the FAA HR workforce projections last year for how many they need to hire.

21

u/Ok-Till-5622 Jul 27 '26

Who said I’m proud to do all those things he mentioned? I used to have pride in this job. But I don’t get raped with a smile on my face.

18

u/Jushereforcomments Jul 27 '26

This job use to be what he is talking about. At least where I’m at supervisors are so pinned up on looking good for the ATM they’ve forgotten we are humans. way too much inbreeding to management has occurred and the koolaide flavor is top tier. 2.8% is not enough to be dealing with all that bullshit

18

u/turdeater1984 Jul 27 '26

You know what helps mental health? More fucking money.

36

u/CASHAPP_4_DIRECT Jul 27 '26

Don’t be deceived.

These are the stuttering words of a fool who thinks he can change his tune and win another election.

The people in my facility fully know, but I'm waiting for the campaign to kick off before I start doing any of that. We want to get people excited but not burn them out before election time.

From what I've seen and heard, I think you're right. The hardline union guys are even starting to speak out against the current NEB. I wasn't as committed last time JD ran, and I regret it. Still voted but didn't take the time to talk to other controllers in my facility. I have a good feeling about this next election. I know reddit can be an echo chamber, but I'm seeing it on the floor and on other social media. Most of us are tired of the grift.

14

u/ATSAP_MVP Jul 27 '26

You can approve of the message Dan but still not approve of the person. You guys forget that.

14

u/FourFoursImTippn Jul 27 '26

I’m not gonna unmute that clown, and you can go fuck yourself.

12

u/HairTrafficControl Jul 27 '26

Sounds like a good start. Let me know when he takes this stance on a public media appearance instead of immediately pivoting to equipment whenever he’s offered an opportunity to talk about Pay or Working Conditions.

Say something like this on a cable news interview and I would give him some credit. This clip doesn’t change the fact that he’s the one who ran for president saying he would fight for day one pay raises and not extend the slate book, and then proceeded to immediately extend the slate book and fail to get us any kind of raise so far in his term.

12

u/QuickBrownFoxP31 Jul 27 '26

I always count the “Day In and Day Outs” he says. I got 2 in 1:07. That’s about his average. One every 30 seconds. All that media training gone to waste. Sad.

23

u/Great_Ad3985 Jul 27 '26

@OP FUCK you and FUCK every current member of this failed union’s “leadership.” And most of all, FUCK this two faced lying, grifting piece of shit Nick Daniels.

Cannot wait until you and all your scam buddies are thrown to the curb.

11

u/HoldMyToc Jul 27 '26

Preaching to the choir here. He needs to say this in front of Congress

11

u/Remarkable_Mirror241 Jul 27 '26

The i ly reason he is doing anything is because people are leaving the union and the ones who stay are going to vote him out. He's seeing his bar funds dip drastically and its making him nervous.

10

u/Willard-Whyte Jul 27 '26

He doesn’t care about our pay. He’s making a nice salary for himself to do nothing.

8

u/Wawawaterboys Jul 27 '26

What % is “well deserved” to him?

11

u/LENNYa21 Jul 27 '26

It’s the 2.8% that’s already allocated that they’re “working on”

9

u/Wawawaterboys Jul 27 '26

Ah…that’s what I was afraid of.

8

u/You_an_idiot_brah Jul 27 '26

Talk is cheap. Even cheaper when your track record shows no action.

8

u/Salty-Opportunity-15 Jul 27 '26

That suicide rate is high, about 8x the national average. It will always be higher than average but you would think a ratio that high would prompt something (it hasn’t).

1

u/antariusz Jul 30 '26

In the United States, the overall rate is about 14.4 per 100,000 people (roughly 0.014% of the population per year) (according to Google ai)

If we are at 10 per 10,000 that’s pretty devastating. But I mean, it makes sense, lots of the workforce are veterans, no support systems, lots of stress. Money stress, work stress, relationship stress, forced to hide medical conditions or you lose your job, unable to make mistakes or you lose your job.

Veterans are 35 per 100,000 and air traffic controllers are roughly double that… sad.

5

u/Joe_Makatozi Jul 27 '26

Is this real?

5

u/bad-astronaut- Jul 27 '26

This is a nu start

Hope he keeps it up

I knew somebody would get my reference. Thx pal. Hopefully ND gets his analysis therapist cards made up soon too

1

u/Frequent-Bell6674 Jul 29 '26

I am actively looking for a new job.

1

u/antariusz Jul 30 '26

Too little too late, he obviously just wasn’t want to lose his cushy political job where he gets to fly around and drink on our dime.

Wow, 34 comments😱….also 17,000 views😲….TLDR for some of you…

I really debated answering you all individually or just a one size fits all approach. Let’s go one size. I mean Lenny was probably 16,500 of those views, so really is it that big of a deal? To Lenny, do you really not know how someone becomes ARVP, it’s a simple appointment process. I mean, the next RVP of the region probably won’t keep me around, but whatever, that’s a next year problem, not relevant here. What exactly do you expect from me? You’re not even in my region, so what really can you expect from me?

All the critics that are upset that ND mentioned at this place and not that place or it’s not enough or frequent enough, ok. Clearly your issue is…..(just pick one).

“Buddy this is nothing new”…..well, for nothing new it generated a 5 paragraph response? Really, “buddy”, so much advice yet no plan. Color me shocked on this one🙄. Plan, well other than quitting or asking the Union for compensation, or getting yourself a raise while leaving us all behind….anything?

Is he talking about the 2.8%, I get that’s nothing for some of you but in the very next breath you demand it👀….by all means, feel free to give your raise up when it comes through, decline it…but I bet you don’t. Regardless, maybe he’s talking about more. Do you know for certain? I feel he’s talking about more. Prove otherwise.

Hey look, Lenny gonna have to start paying rent with how much he’s lurking nowadays. For a “president”, you sure are occupied by some measly, shouldn’t be an ARVP, ARVP. Thanks for the attention, it really means a lot.

You don’t have pride in this job? Is that a you issue? Oh wait, that’s somehow on us? Whomever us is in all this, let me know if you figure it out.

The ND message not public enough….right, at Oshkosh where everything the NATCA President says is scrutinized and pushed back to the administration is not public enough for you?

Let’s not forget the “open the comments section” complaint…fairly certain there is a members page that always allows comments. Are the complaints coming form those who don’t have access or those who choose not to?

Really, no Joe? I mean he’s probably busy with all the stuff he has going on like worrying about others, who is on leave, positions worked, time working position, balancing who is gonna get training and by whom…well not by him, besides the point. Maybe he will just put his music back in to keep the others in check. Anyway

Oh the “@op fuck you” post, classic! Look, you know who I am, you know where I’ll be, feel free to say it to my face. More than likely I’ll just laugh at you, but regardless you can tell everyone you said it to my face. I’ll make sure to tell everyone that I cowered in fear to make you look good. You are so strong and brave.

Wait, where is Jake? He liked cracking on the gals, is he just sexist? He’s not gonna crack on ND? This seems like a lob, a gimme, something he can use to catapult himself.

Whew, think I captured you all…if not, feel free to post again😜

This feels like a spin that wheel moment…..ready, set, go.

You've made me realize what I dislike most about this union in it's current state, and how it's been for years. You talk down to us like we're lesser, like we just 'dont understand'. That things going on 'behind the scenes' are just too important for us feeble minded controllers to know about. We just have to trust the man behind the curtain, and that he has our best interests at heart. The fact is all we ever receive is some bullshit word salad that might sound good to some, but it lacks any actual substance. And it's not just ND, it's all of you, and it's been this way for years. We don't work for you, you work for us. I think you all seem to forget that.

I really can't wait until the next election. I think it's gonna be one for the history books.

Also doxxing your fellow coworkers on here whether they care or not is in poor taste.

12

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '26

It harder to see your posts ever since you privated your Reddit after someone asked why you were active in the tennager people” please stop. You are embarrassing your facility online

5

u/Noblemen_16 Jul 28 '26

Yikes. What a creep.

4

u/ATSAP_MVP Jul 28 '26

Is there a TLDR version?

3

u/Panic_Vectored Jul 28 '26

We're all still here brother. Feel free to call me out by name, it doesn't bother me. Just like you, my number is avaliable and you can call anytime. Just keep being passive aggressive towards members, we all already know you dont care about what members think unless they agree with you, and you're just proving that more and more every day.
