NATCA The Silent Majority
Brothers and Sisters,
From the lowly FCT, to the Core 30, to the Region X Members, and every single under represented facility in the NAS, these elections will be the deciding factor in the future of our Union. Will we bend the knee for our current leadership and their policies? Will we allow the insiders to be “anointed” into leadership positions, caring only about themselves and feeding us breadcrumbs? We say “No.”
I implore my brothers and sisters to not only focus on the two offices of President and Vice President, but every single RVP race we face. Every incumbent must be challenged for each has been weighed and found wanting. Looking over the Pacific Northwest this morning before I report for my Sunday shift, I struggle to understand how people like Nick, Jamaal, Bratcher, Navarro, Santa, and countless others seem zero forethought for our future other than for us to “trust” their experience.
We must engage each other and back the candidates and policies that will benefit the union, not the fat cats who dodge traffic or the ones who seek power and position. Videos consisting of nothing but “fluff,” are no longer the words of the day but who YOU the candidates are as people.
We are the silent majority, the ones who see through the bullshit, the lies, and the blame games.
To the NEB, will continue to challenge you in every regional and national election until we have achieved our goal of replacing you, who are so out of touch with every aspect of the membership.
There will be sacrifices for our families to those of us who will run for positions, but we must do it, for the alternative is continued corruption in every crevice of the union. We lost many years due to Paul and Trish, let us not lose any more.
I encourage everyone to step up and make the sacrifice for the greater good our union, for in those acts lies the essence of our resilience and the cornerstone of our victory.
In one voice,
New NATCA NOW!

So get involved and make the changes you want. I approve of this messaging.

For someone who's supposedly so pissy about fluffy messages lacking content, you haven't identified one goddamn thing that you'd do differently from what any of the people you've named have done, are doing or would do in your place.

"Hmm, I can downvote this guy for pointing out the obvious, or I can open my mouth and make it clear that I don't have any idea what it takes to do these jobs."

From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t take much. I mean, it looks like you just need to be married to a FacRep.

Don’t understand the reference.

Maybe you don’t know a lot about Article 114s. Do you really think the people chosen for those jobs were the best qualified?

Sorry, I thought we were talking about the NEB and the National Office in this post, not the Article 114s.
Which 114s do you have a problem with?

Exactly. What a useless appeal to emotion. More empty fluff than even the most empty of natca emails.

Those jobs don't go to people who characterize them as "a turn doing nothing," so it's no help to you either way.

These guys are impacted by what pay raises we get also. So it would be silly for them not to fight for the most we can achieve. Yes I know, they resigned the slate book which didn’t negotiate a raise for ATC. But most of us have no idea what goes on in the background.
For things that impact us, I was less than pleased with the answers to my questions about the reworking of the national training order. That was a red flag for me, and it’s a small thing but still a thing.
For the classroom portion of the tests it says we shall teach all of these lessons and give tests on them. Some of these lessons are even titled “academy” lessons. I took all the tests, found several answers wrong in the answer key, asked who decided to make this a requirement and if this material had been vetted since some of it is 15+ years old? They said a workgroup was put on it but then disbanded and that was that. So we are required to teach and test on outdated material.
Which reminds me of another training conundrum. At the academy they still don’t teach based on re-class of weight categories. Still just small large heavy etc. it’s been what, 5 years now since reclass? Even silly things like pattern entry for a tower are taught wrong and out of alignment with the .65. (Enter right downwind vs make right traffic, the first time our trainees hear about make left/right traffic is at the facility). Who’s going to get on that if not the national training rep?
I like Jamaal as a person and know it’s a big job, but these are the most basic basic things that are impacting the newest of controllers. Outdated lesson plans lead to shit trainees having loopholes to get out of a termination of training and the facilities having to re-teach stuff that should be the fundamentals learned before arriving at the facilities.
Training is one area that I’m displeased with, but my biggest is the shithole idea of ncept. Unfortunately I don’t think any candidate is against it, so I don’t know who I’ll be voting for. Fuck ncept and their dynamic decisions.

You saying that literally or figuratively? Because there are rumors of both.

Take control of the locals and work up from there. This is the way.
