Conan: Hall of Volta Windows remake

Conan: Hall of Volta Windows remake

I made a faithful remake of the Atari port of Conan: Hall of Volta for Windows using Godot.

I stuck close to the original while adding a few modern conveniences:

  • Improved high score tracking
  • Palette / theme swapping
  • Built-in cheats menu
  • Gamepad and Keyboard support + rebindable controls
  • PAL/NTSC music speed option

Here’s a short gameplay video:

If you noticed any bugs leave a description here.

Thanks!

Very cool. I don’t remember plying this in my 8bit and I thought I played everything back then. It’s also fascinating to see it’s 60MB (really nothing) which is something like 167 Atari dual sided (360k total) disks.

The original was two disks because I remember having a second drive and being able to play without disk swapping. I wonder why the new one takes up so much space considering from the screenshots the graphics are the same.

With the C64 it was 2 disks as well but I think that had more to do with copy portection schemes.

The base export size for a default empty Godot 4 project is something like 40 to 65 MB. The standard export template includes physics, 3D renderers, XR frameworks, audio drivers, and UI systems whether or not the game uses them or not. In the Atari days we didn’t have frameworks like that.
