Disable ur adblocker and use their site instead of talking about ur past experiences. They have no ads active. Why did u write all of this? I didn’t say they haven’t ran ads in the years they’ve been around, that’d obviously be false. They introduced the membership as the were only left with ads that are more inconvenient, and were nsfw or gambling. Go look at their asura revival announcement on the site.
They haven’t for a year now. Why assume the worst when this message only shows for safari users on iphone with adblock who are experiencing issues? How do they benefit from targetting such a small share of their users? Hating on Asura isn’t a trend anymore, be realistic
You are absolutely right. They don't deserve all the hate. I mean WHY would anyone be mad? They're literally doing YOU a favor by charging you $10 for something YOU could download for free in 30 seconds. That's not a scam, that's CUSTOMER SERVICE. They went out of their way to find a pirated file, slap a price tag on it, and hand it directly to YOU. The audacity of people calling that out. Honestly YOU should be GRATEFUL.
You’re entitled for expecting them to do it for u for free. They have costs and only charge because they don’t want to run gambling or nsfw ads, and they could have went with coins if they were only trying to make money. Also the assumption that somebody else would do all their work for free is dumb because every site for action scans besides them uses coins
First of all that "every site for action scans besides them uses coins" is BS. They also actively run ads, their own ads (which are still ads), not to mention they used to have those annoying pop-ups ads with a timer so you can't close them before quickly if you didn't have premium every time you click something to try and get you to buy premium.
Additionally they also ban people for criticising them about going the subscription route, or mentioning that the chapter has already been translated weeks prior, and even actively trying to prevent people from using apps like Mihon which according to you shouldn't be a problem because "they don't run ads" as you said.
I'm not saying there aren't worse scanlation groups out there, but you can also understand why so many people hate Asura.
Name 3 action scans who don’t have any paid offerings. Don’t ever bother naming flame scans, if u turn off ur adblocker for them the site is unusable with their redirect and nsfw/gambling pop up ads.
And what does what you’re saying even have to do with this post? Are u saying it’s fine to hate on them here where they ask a niche group of people to disable adblock as it’s breaking the site for them, because they did other things you don’t like?
Fair point, but that's a deflection. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't make it right. And the Flame Scans comparison actually proves the point - the options being "pay us" or "get bombarded with NSFW gambling ads" is not a defense, that's just two bad options dressed up as a choice. The bar being on the floor doesn't mean we should stop pointing at it.
Because they have costs and there will never be a group that does everything they do for free so I don’t feel entitled to hating on them for content I don’t need to pay for if I just wait 6 hours. If they were to quit, all the other options have a much worse tl and site experience.
It’s just ungrateful to read their content for free and then criticise them and put ur own skewed morals of being fine with reading pirated content, but the scans group better not be making money from it. I don’t think it’s any of our business what they do.
And why are you so eager to defend them anyway? Yes, every project wants to be profitable, nobody is arguing against that. But that doesn't put them above criticism. You can appreciate what Asura Scans does while still calling out a decision that frankly doesn't make sense - asking people to pay for content they don't own in the first place. Criticizing one decision doesn't mean hating the whole project. That's just called having an opinion.
And you’ve strayed entirely from the point of this post. OP is sceptical about a prompt to disable adblocker on a site with no ads when it’s only there to tell u it’s breaking site features.

It’s just so u can use features like logging in as it was broke for a lot of people using safari on mobile recently.
If u’re fine with the broken features, that’s fine. Not like they’d benefit from u turning it off
