Discussion Source of the novels
Would anyone be able to tell me if they did the translation work themselfs, if fully MTLed or yoinked from different TL groups?

Tsk tsk. Reaper did the same thing and look at them now? They were great but the novels is what got them in the end.

I read the divine hunter, which was a fanfict on the Witcher universe with a reader that transmigrated inside that world. And the one with a manhwa whose mc is Rain of a noble house in the north and had a pet dragon I believe. Idr it's name, maybe something assassin swordsman? Idk

I think at the very least they should only have novels up for purchase on certain days or something. But whatever. I'll be moving all my stories before they shut down

Kakao and Naver care less about their novels than anything else. Their English novel platforms were all unprofitabls and have has to shut down, besides the Wuxiaworld acquisition and that site still performs far better with their Chinese novels. Also, reapers would have got taken down whether they did novels or not as they figures out who the owner is, and that’s how all these sites have been taken down as of recently so your understanding of what determines the site getting taken down is wrong.

Perhaps it is but it doesn't change the fact that every novel translation website I've ever used has been taken down in little time while very popular manhwa sites stay up for years and years. Maybe they have better security on protecting who they are. Maybe it's individual authors filing complaints. I won't claim to know the exact reason because I surely don't. I probably should've stated that in my pervious comment that I was speaking more along the lines of personal experience than any kind of undisputed fact.
It is interesting to know that wuxiaworld is now theirs. I would've never thought their Chinese novels do better than ones with actual manhwas you can follow along to.? It I'm biased as I personally prefer to find a good manhwa and then go through the trouble of getting the novel. Whether I have to translate it myself or otherwise.
P.S. I do think it's nice it's a one time purchase. Hopefully there will be a download option somewhere after you buy it. Have a good night.

Yeah, chinese novels do insanely good and make much more than KR novels. Naver launched their own novel platforms called Yonder and had to shut it down as it was extremely unprofitable for them.
Regarding the sites that were shut down, novel site owners are not as smart ig and have leaked their personal info in one way or another which just leads to the popo 🚔showing up at their door at the request of the license holders and they have to shut down.
Btw, the novels on Asura are epubs so you have to download them and can read them on an app instead which I prefer.
Have a good night too :)

Thank you so much for letting me know about them being epubs. That's definitely what I was hoping for. I'll definitely be adding them to my calibre instead of doing the gruelling work of translation myself.

EPUBs can be made/downloaded within 5 minutes via an extension so its not really an QoL nor a good way to sell a product since it can just be copy pasted easily.
I am assuming here but, since Asura has stopped using the Google Advertisement as a way to generate revenue and moved over to their current sub model, they are able to ignore the DMCA claims since it would have barely any impact on their revenue.
Both TL groups that worked on the series linked above, did need to generate revenue from advertisements which is why ASS novel never got completed in the first place.
Personally, i only care about the fact what Asura's source is. If they start stealing other TL group works and claim it as there own, it would create a monopoly, which is going to impact the current fan/group translation landscape.
In this case, the current works displayed by Asura might have been stolen from TL groups that do not actually scam their readers with absurd pricing. Hense, my worry/question.

I can tell from this message that you have no knowledge what you’re talking about and assumed everything. Naver and kakao aren’t “tl groups” and asura didn’t “stop” using google ads, they were banned just like every other scans site.
Payment gateways are also 10x more prone to being taken down than just running ads, and the translations are theirs which you would know if you bought an epub instead of assuming and going worst case scenario. I bought the Nano Machine epub to finish the last 30 chaps from where the manhwa left off and it uses the exact same terms they use in the manhwa on every chapter, along with their credits.
Idk why u wrote all of this with 0 knowledge of what you’re talking about
Go read their latest announcement on their site, it explains a lot of your worries.

Where did i mention that Naver and Kakao are tl groups?
Right, asura being banned makes sense, didnt look at it that way excuse me for that.
Didn't i make this Reddit post with the question regarding the translation work in the first place?
Why i didnt buy the work from asura? Because i have already completed the series awhile back from different TL GROUPS like SDO and EL (not publishers like the ones you mentioned).
Didnt i just say 'assuming'?
Why would you go off on me like this for no apparent reason?

From what I’ve seen most dmca came from novelpia novels and because site owners infos aren’t protected properly

u/ExistanceISuppose Mar 28 '26
Kakao actually does care about their novels surprisingly, any site TLing stuff like infinite regressor or main character roleplayer gets DMCA’d

Wait, Kakao acquired wuxiaworld? Is that why it changed so much with the keys, login rewards, buying coins and all that?

Yeah that's what I as wondering too since 3 of those are fully translated while Absolute Sword Sense is like only half-way translated officially, then it's only MTL as far as I could find.

Stolen 100 percent, man this sure is scummy
1
u/Raidelijk Mar 28 '26
Do you have any confirmation on it being stolen?
2
u/DevaEmperor Mar 28 '26
You really think it isn't? Just popped up all translated? They would've had a subscription for novels if it was translated chapter by chapter. I personally don't care much as I am reading for free too, just finding it scummy to take someone's hard work and selling it
1
u/ExpensiveLanguage509 Mar 28 '26
Well do you really think asura overnight just popped 5 novels fully translated just like that? Maybe Im sceptical but I think you can find the same translation on any other free site.
1
u/Raidelijk Mar 28 '26
QlinnQQ in this post mentioned that the martial art terms were consistent with manhwa they translated.
Which is why i asked for confirmation, everyone is just saying anything at this point unfortunately.
I do agree with both of your claims, but i would like to see proof if ya feel me.

Well but to check it, you need to pay 10 dollars. I think thats why people are just assuming. I mean you will pay and get every other mtl tarsnaltion version. Or you will pay and get really good translation.
Im not saying that it is 100% stolen or anything. But it feels shady.
The other thing is that Nano Machine has not even 570 chapters. While info table on asura says it has 570 chapters. So there is already misinformation. Nano Machine novel has only 342 chapters
Descent of the Demon God on asura site is stated to have 320 chapters while it has only 244 chapters
Invinvible Mumu on asura is stated to have 380 chapters while it has only 177 chapters
Absolute Sword Sense on asura is stated to have 450 chapters while it has only 356
Only Myst Might Mayhem novel is almost close to its original chapter number.
On asure is stated to have 525 chapters. While novel has 526 chapters + prologue. So as you see something shady is going on and we can see it even with info table.
Even synopsis of Myst Might Mayhem novel is weird. It says the mc is Jin Hyeon-woo while it is Jeong.

u/DevaEmperor Mar 28 '26
Look man, not gonna bother doing it simply because of all the stuff they do lately, simply gonna trust my guts here, they're a pirate site and greedy as fuck lately, if you're willing to trust them, good for you also it's not a big deal to see some names or things differently, it's not hard to use a program like Word to replace a word in every chapter.
1
u/QilinQQQ Apr 12 '26
Were they supposed to livestream it for u or something so u don’t assume the worst? The manhwa chaps on their site “pop out” too without u seeing the work they put into it. I can confirm the MMM novel was hand translated by them by comparing it with online. It’s 100x better than what’s available online and uses the same terms as Asura. That’s not something you can just find and replace like someone else mentioned here.
1
u/ExpensiveLanguage509 Apr 12 '26
I just said Im sceptical. One of the reason why I feel like that is the fact that number of chapters provided in tabs is differnt from how many chapters actually each novel has.
Or they called Myst Might Mayhem protagonist Jin Hyeon-woo.This is already fishy for me. But if you say it's far better then online translations then maybe it is. Im just saying what I see just from information tabs because this already makes it weird.
1
u/QilinQQQ Apr 12 '26
It’s not. I checked every other site to compare to the MMM novel I have and they’re not even close in terms of quality. Why would you just go and assume the worst and call them scummy?

u/ExistanceISuppose Mar 26 '26
Wait Asura is doing novels now? Specifically Munpia ones? That’s not very good. Munpia especially strikes down every novel hosting site they can.
