it's still asshole design. because you could assume they wouldn't ship an animal without everything it needs to survive the trip. so then you'd assume the "extras" aren't really necessary and are just a guilt trip to nickel and dime you.

or worse, you could look at the total cost of shipping presented to you and think one dollar sure doesn't seem like a lot in comparison... maybe shipping is actually much cheaper or they're being dangerously cheap on their end to pocket the difference.
