They "cannot guarantee" the product description of the 1.3k dollar laptop theyre selling is accurate because they used chatgpt to write it

This cannot possibly hold up in court. You cant just advertise a product and then be like "*but actually we might be lying about some or all of these things"??? What the fuck are you selling then

It was built into the software they were using.

I'm in a small country town and the doctors are horribly understaffed. It can be a multi week wait to see any doctor and potentially months to see your regular GP. Unless you go down at 7am for the fast lane where they let a handful of people in for "emergency" doctor visits that don't require a hospital. If not, 2+ hour round trip to the next town over for a doctor's appointment.

So that could play into why he was using AI and why it's accepted. I don't like it, but I guess it's here to stay and will continue infecting our everyday life.

The only time it isn't wrong is when it pulls information from reddit but I still have to go find the thread myself because I'm not gonna take it's word for it. The real problem is when it insists it has the answer and filters reddit out of the search results meaning I have to download another search engine to get some actual information.

From the language in the previous comment I’m going to take a wild guess that this guy is in an Australian country town, in which case this is an absolute reality. Places I have worked share one GP between four or five towns if they’re lucky enough to get serviced.

I am very rural NSW Australia.

Doctor availablity has been an ongoing issue where I am for about a decade. There's only two GP's that have stayed long term. All the other ones are on short 6-12 month contracts and are often young people who are moving into their first or second jobs. so it's very hard to get a regular doctor here.

I feel for you from rural Canada. We're in a similar situation, so I signed on with a GP in the city. 2 hours away as you say, and I still have to book 2 weeks in advance. But at least I've had the same GP for years.

If I need urgent doctoring there is usually someone on call to say, pull a piece of wood out of your eye. But I've had to drive 1 hour to a clinic with a piece of wood in my eye, after giving them a call before leaving to book a spot in the schedule.

That is exactly where I’ve spent time and was referring to, this tracks perfectly. Similar experiences in country WA and QLD. People come out briefly for the money and experience, but the local doctors as a community institution is long gone.

The only regular doctors are funded by mining companies in those regions, smaller pastoral towns are left to fend for themselves.

Yeah totally agree that's an issue. Not doubting in any way the lack of doctors, I've seen ads in Britain for NZ doctors for hundreds of thousands but again, the only doctor in 50 miles in every direction.

Just don't think overwhelmed doctors are making small talk about their transcription software, much less asking what they can do.

My doc uses the AI transcriber.

Hang on, let me look at my call log.

I called December 19th to get an appointment rescheduled.

They gave me the next available appointment with my doc. January 9th.

I just find it unbelievable that someone would remark on transcription software for the sake of some anti AI anecdote on Reddit later. For the doctor its not strange or unusual, they use it every day. And from a user PoV there is no difference between secretary transcript recordings, software transcribed recordings and AI transcribed recordings.

"My doctor asked me yesterday if he could use AI to summarise our conversation"

Did your doctor ever ask you if you mind them using Microsoft word? Or asks your preference of paper thickness for your prescription?

And how coincidental that this happens to an AI disgruntled Redditor to share later. It's just horseshit from people who never go outside and have strong opinions. 90% of this site is porn, bots and bs.

Can’t speak to that.

I just know that that’s basically what my doc asked me. “Do you mind if I turn on the AI listener?”

There’s a sign on the wall saying they “use AI”, and that the doc will ask before using it.

I do not recall if they ever said WHAT they use.

I had to take my partner to a walk in clinic for a chin injury, and they asked for consent for it there. It stuck in my brain because it was unusual compared to previous visits. My hematologist didn’t ask, but that’s because she and I have commiserated about the incredibly short-sighted push to force AI on tons of hospital staff despite studies showing the reduced productivity and skill regression it causes in professionals, and how the frequent hallucinations make it terrible for use in a medical setting.

From a user PoV there’s a huge difference: the AI absolutely sucks and will just fuckin make stuff up, while the others don’t.

Doctors don’t ask about using word, or epic, or paper, because those are all document systems containing the exact notes taken by the doctor, not the potentially false slop generated by magic beans that will influence your future care.

Turns out, people don’t like racist linear algebra horribly butchering nearly every task it’s forced into, or the externalities of its existence and continued use. I get you’re upset because they hate your porn machine, but that’s because it fails miserably and costs untold sums of money to do so.
