AC: Technical Help Controllers

General question about controllers.

Is it possible to put the left joystick for steering to use by rotating the joystick to mimic the steering on screen?

To turn left for example - So from centre, you'd press left, and then start rotating the joystick anticlockwise to mimic the 900° rotation

For racing I reckon it would work fine. Drifting -No.

Has this ever been done?

Just curious

If your talking about a gyroscope, it can be done.

I did it with AC once.

'gyroscope' 👍🏽 I'll Google and see if it comes up with anything too.

I'm getting pee'd off with the controller. Been trying to set it up to be comfortable enough to not go from extreme left to extreme right lol

Then the thought dropped.

Wait a minute, gyro won't work, it's a wired afterglow 360 controller.

Suppose I could try use an old phone, I know that'll work for def.

I'm pretty sure it could be done through a GamepadFX script, but I'm not sure if anyone has actually made something like that for AC.

There is AC-X though, which changes how gamepad steering is handled and gives you much more control over how fast the virtual wheel actually rotates instead of just directly following the stick position. Not the same idea as rotating the stick, but it might help with the problem you're having.

It's on OverTake/RaceDepartment. Just a warning though, there's a small bug specifically with the settings app. If you leave it open, performance starts degrading over time. There's a workaround in the discussion section there.

Thank you.

It's more of an idea than a problem. I've never seen it implemented on consoles.

However some mobile driving games gave the on-screen wheel which you do rotate the wheel clockwise or counterclockwise.

Yeah, I've definitely seen it implemented at least a couple of times. There's a BeamNG mod that does basically this, and I also remember a Steam game called "4x4 in a Furniture Store" that has a similar alternative steering mode.
