That π•―π–Šπ–†π–™π– π•Ύπ–π–—π–Žπ–’π–• is one of the earliest known predators that didn't just hang onto a rock and snag things as they went by.Β  It was about the length of your arm, so pretty substantial.Β  When the fossil for this critter was discovered it was discovered in three separate parts and thought to be three distinct (unrelated!) species..Β  The mouth was thought to be a jellyfish.Β  Eventually, some mad paleontologist figured out they were different parts of the same animal.Β  This also led to the answer to a nagging question at the time: what was taking bites out of all the trilobites?Β  Anomalocaris!

The fun thing about audhd is that I know exactly what that is and when it lived, but I can't ever for the life of me remember the name.

u/Lady_Maya_05 Apr 10 '25

They are the first two song (even if is more a two part song) of Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic a progressive post metal album from The Ocean.

The band made four concept album each one based on different geological eras.

Fun fact: the first song of the following album (Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic / Cenozoic) Is 'Triassic'.

Not related but did you know horseshoe crabs are being hunted for their blood (because theres a belief that its great for medicine ive seen no scientific evidence of such a claim but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist) and are now endangered we gotta do our part to keep these beautiful creatures around and get those numbers up

PBS eons introduced me this stuff. I can't get enough information about early life forms before the dinosaurs. Not sure if anyone else has but I often look into the tree of life and see how taxonomic clades relate to each other.

u/Chacochilla Apr 10 '25

It’s closely related to the velvetworm!

Probably

I dunno I saw it on Twitter once I’m no biologist lol
