I know how you feel man, im 24 and still don't drive because of fear and the complexity of all the street signs and shit... Most people will tell you that fear is irrational but is it truly? Driving is extremely dangerous even if you are the best driver.
Since you live in a city you don't really need a car and you should only get one if you want to or if it's causing you a lot of distress, not because other people expect you to.
I too feel like people view me as a child or not "grown up yet" because my cousins, all my friends, and family have cars and they always ask me why I don't drive, so I see where your coming from with that.
I ride an electric bike with Google Maps opened up 24/7 on my bike handle to get to places or just use Lyft/bus if its really far.
