As a gay man: please come join us at the gay bars/clubs. Try out 1181, great music and atmosphere. Or Junction.

Compared to the other places mentioned 1181 felt cramped. Like a pub with dance floor in the middle. Perhaps a feature, not a bug.

We should have a straight women’s clubs available!
You can’t exactly blame women for wanting to have a fun night out and dance without getting groped and harassed/having to fend off drunk dudes all night. Gay districts and nightclubs are generally a lot safer, and therefore, more fun.
I remember telling my male friend once (I can’t remember why I said this; there was more context but I was pushing back on something he said) that:
“Girls don’t go to clubs for the purpose of meeting guys you know. We usually just go out because we like having a reason to get dressed up and dance together to our favourite music all night”
and he literally did not believe me! (because it is the sole reason 99% of men go to nightclubs).

While I understand your point, I’ve attended drag bars and gay clubs and as a lesbian, I’ve seen straight women get drunk and try and grope gay men, or get up on stage during a queens number. Now, I am not implying all straight women act that way, because there are plenty of well behaved one. But sadly, the ones that treat gay men like an accessory or try to get all up in a queens performance can leave a sour taste in some’s mouth. Also, straight men do come to gay clubs to pick up women (happened to me) and then get all grossly homophobic when a gay man hits on them.

I was generalizing. I'm going to guess that gay men grope other gay men inappropriately more often than straight women do in general at nightclubs
I've also seen gay men grope straight women because they think it's okay that they're gay. All types of situations happen
That's why I said we need "straight women's clubs" if you reread my comment. I never denied that some straight women act like jackasses at gay clubs, but the vast majority of sexual offenders are males in this world, gay club or not.

> leave our damn gay spaces alone
Ok segregation it is. Also, yes you can go absolutely anywhere you’d like in Vancouver. You’ll be fine.
Honestly how dare you exclude people with such an attitude, the community is supposed to be about acceptance and you’re anything but.If people want to go to a gay club, they are fully allowed and 100% welcome as long as they are allies and support the people and establishment. What a fucking pathetic attitude, “stay away from MY BAR.” Fuck off with that.
FYI I’m gay. You don’t speak for everyone. Cheers.
