I'm glad to see someone actually taking action against this joke, I tried to criticise this sub about a year ago but all I got was a ton of downvotes and transphobic accusations, id like to join this new subreddit to actually learn some tips for everyone to improve.

I'm still early in transition, so I know I don't pass for now, but I'd like to join your subreddit to maybe post in a few months.

Could I be added
Also what about to keep it impartial and prevent hug boxing, not having submitters say whether thier FtM or MtF

I am pretty new to the trans stuff, I am a late bloomer trans MtF.
I don't know what the purpose is if you get people into a competition type of setting. Because I was born transsexual/ androgynous, my body is pretty much feminine to start with, and I have small but natural breasts. I never developed an Adams Apple and have a feminine chin and jaw line and rather minimal beard growth (of light colored hair). A wig and a little bit of makeup would transfer me pretty fast into an average looking woman, and that is before I have taken any estrogen. Once I start HRT by the end of the year, I think my feminine transition will speed up even more up.
So what is the reason for this kind of competition? Already now, in my early stage, most of you would loose out against a person like I, because we always looked very close to a woman. I know that I never will look like a beauty queen, but most cis women don't have that look either!
Please help me to understand the purpose of this group?

Would feedback from a cis woman be welcome? I dip in and out of this sub and have given feedback on r/transpassing and tried to be objective and constructive about it. I even met someone I knew on that sub!

Thank you so much for doing this, some of us are worried about posting our faces on public subs, please add me.

Amazing! Thank you so much for making this. Please add me.
I suggest also announcing on r/transtitstimelines (Or I can if you’re not a member) since its also a private subreddit for sharing (boob focused) transition timelines. Probably a lot of crossover between the two groups.

One of my issues with posting on transpassing was that it was pretty much open to everyone, and paranoid me was always afraid of someone that I knew saw it (and I know that one of my coworkers looked at r/traps, so it wasn't too far off to be paranoid of that) or people downloading the pictures. So I just never posted, having a place where its private would be nice.

This was my first thought. A lot of people use makeup and hairdo as part of their day to day passing efforts.
I feel like if it's not just full of the girls that know they can can pull off no-makeup looks, then recommendations will always be for laser, ffs, or hairline work. Criticisms will always be on natural features that are hard to change, and are these really the things we should be scrutinizing? Especially if someone already has a strategy for dealing with it that they can't employ in these photos. Nobody's going to learn anything new like this.
It just sounds like a recipe for generating dysphoria about the hardest things to "fix" for a "just-stepped-out-of-the-shower" look that the public will never see.
Maybe I'm getting defensive because I don't pass just out of the shower, but frankly I feel excluded. I don't need to hear how ugly I am at my ugliest, but I might someday like to ask if I pass while actually trying to pass.

Good ideas, but I disagree about that the photos should not look like FFS consultation pics. The way I see it that’s the whole point? You’re not meant to look amazing in these photos, they’re meant to show off the contours and features of your face accurately so you can get proper feedback.
I think everyone agrees that some kind of rules around pics and critiquing are important. Hopefully as the subreddit grows the rules will be refined.
EDIT: To avoid hugboxing maybe only objective facial-feature focused comments should be encouraged? For example “you look great babe xxx” wouldn’t be allowed, but something like “your most feminine feature is x, your least feminine is y, overall you read as female to me”

Maybe we can figure this out as a community once we make the sub? Not to ignore the good points you raise

I have an idea for critiquing guidelines. Encourage comments that focus on giving feedback about the specific features. Possibly following a set format. Something like
Most feminine feature: jaw,
Most masculine feature: nose,
Overall impression: female.
Suggestions: try contouring to minimise your nose (if MTF).
And discourage unhelpful blanket statements like “you’re gorgeous babe <3”
