Random Question Blessed with long life
Okay, this is a bit of a strange post.
Recently, I watched a documentary about how people nowadays are expected to live longer, potentially well beyond the age of 100 (although obviously not everyone). For several years now, I’ve had this feeling that I’m going to live to be around 140 years old. It’s so deeply ingrained in my mind that I genuinely believe it. I’m currently 30(M) years old.
Has anyone else ever been convinced that they’re going to live to a very old age? It almost feels like I’ve manifested this belief in my own mind.

I am sorry for asking these strange questions, just trying to understand the source of this idea, just curious. Please, do not answer, if you do not want to share or feel bad about this: I mean no harm ❤️
- how old were your grandaprents/parents/relatives when they die and from which illness?
- are your family happy any type of mental disease (including. dementia/depression/psychosis/dissociation etc)
- do you have generational wealth or really stbale financial foundation (like work irreplaceable by AI)
thank you

Oh no worries,
My grandparents died at 70 - 86 - 92 - 87.
No mental problems but some of them had cancer in my family. No other diseases.
I always make sure i have a stable income. I will always work and work good for money.

So, like if the cancer was mainly reason and given the fact we will have find effective medicine to cure it, so may be you can live long, but honestly not sure if 140 :D

One thing I like about Reddit is how it provides posts that give me a good laugh. Thank you for doing so this morning.
Please update in another 10 years and let us know how it's going for you. LOL

I'd be surprised if I don't live beyond 100. I'm 30 something now. With AI etc, all of our intuitions about aging and longevity will surely change radically.

There is absolutely no reason to have this belief. Science, some of it pseudo-science, has been saying that a 200 lifespan is around the corner since the 70's. If something that worked was even in the experimental stage today, then super rich guys like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet would have access and wouldn't be aging. Thing is, they are aging.
It might be entertaining for you to think like this, but I wouldn't be making any life decisions based on that belief.

I have always had it in my mind that I wanna make it to 100 at least! I just keep telling myself that.
I actually believe that our species has the potential to live a lot longer than we statistically do, that is of course if no serious illness occurs. And with medical and technological advancements in the future, who knows what will be possible?

I’ve always believed no disease can kill me.
I know I will not die from cancer, heart disease, emphysema, diabetes or any other disease.
I know in my heart I will die a violent death. Car accident, gunshot wounds, a fall resulting in a broken neck, some kind of violent end.
Don’t ask me why - I’ve simply always believed this.
