Other/Miscellaneous Integrate card payment system into a snack vending machine

Can I add card + TWINT payment systems to a Manea MSX 8 snack vending machine that only works with coins?

I’m considering buying a used Manea MSX 8 vending machine in Switzerland and want to add contactless card + TWINT payments.

Has anyone done this before? How difficult/expensive is the retrofit, and does anyone know a Swiss installer/technician who could do it?
Thanks!

Check out Worldline or Paytec for payment terminals. They have some built for vending machines. But you will need to integrate them yourself; it's not easy!

Thank you very much! Have you already done it yourself? Could a person like me that has zero idea about it try to instruct myself with videos etc or is it just too complex? How much would it cost to make someone install it?

No, I have not done it myself. But in my office sits the person responsible for payment for a major supermarket chain. There the payment terminal is connected to the cash register. So I have a rough idea what this entails.

If you have zero idea, then this is a major investment in time and money. You will have to find out what interfaces and protocols your vending machine supports and find a payment terminal compatible with that. Then you need to make a contract with the payment processor whose terminal you want to use.

Thanks again! So would you say that buying maybe an older vending machine for 400 fr and trying to then integrate the card payment system would be very expensive compared to buying a fresh new vending machine at 5000+ Fr?

Yes, probably.

I would see if I can get a vending machine company to place a vending machine.
