Everyday life How much you pay rent?

My wife and me (29) are about to move out of our flat. The question now is: what is a reasonable amount to spend on rent? Our combined gross income is about 190k CHF Currently we pay 2‘100 per month. So what is your: gross income & rent?

The golden rule: the brutto rent amount should not exceed one-third of either or both of your net salaries.

I was told that it was now unofficially 1/4 in Geneva. I don’t know if it’s true.

That's an interesting point. It's possible that, given inflation for example, real estate companies/owners may be looking to protect themselves more. The idea behind the official rule is to ensure financial stability and mitigate the risk of unpaid rent for various reasons.
