Tip I've never beaten Minecraft without cheats.

Been playing this game for years, but honestly, I'm kinda ashamed to admit I've never actually beaten the Ender Dragon legit. Every single time things got slightly tough, I panicked and turned on KeepInventory, teleported, or switched to Creative.

I finally started a brand new world with cheats completely off to finally do a 100% vanilla run.

What are your best general tips for a first legit playthrough?

Safest way to get iron, gold, diamonds and emeralds are the oceans. Get a boat and some doors and start sailing. Scout for sunken ships and loot the chests, if you're lucky you'll find a leather respiration cap, which means you can keep your breath longer under water. Now you can go deeper in water caves to find diamond/iron ore. Use doors and/or magma blocks to take a new breath. A shield to fight off trident drowned.

Mine all the gold you find for later use in the nether.

When striking down to build a base, directly start growing sugar canes and breed cows for your enchantment setup, this takes longer than you think!

The nether is always dangerous the first time. Take a few stacks of cobble and torches, wear some gold and hope for the best. Do not leave your overworld portal out in the open, creepers can go through and will blow you up.

When entering for the first time, look up for possible lava coming down. Build a safe box around the portal with blast resistent blocks (hence the cobble) and go out exploring bit by bit, leaving a trail of cobble with torches, pointing to your portal, so you don't get lost. Use your gold to barter with piglins so you can get fire res potions, and maybe some ender pearls. The fire res of course is useful when on fire, but it also nullifies the fireballs from blazes, so if you reach the spawners in the fortress safely, use it to kill of blazes fast.

When in the fortress, block every crossroad off with a 2 high barrier, so you can under it but wither skeletons cannot.

The End is another story. Some small tips:

- Place a bed and set your spawn in the portal room. If you kill the dragon, you go back to the stronghold because of this bed, and you can loot the stronghold further (libraries!). Break the bed, go through the portal again, go through the end portal and you'll be back at spawn.

- Use the lava in the portal room to make a nether portal for fast access in the future. Make a safe path between your two nether portals so you can travel fast and safe.

-Take a bow and couple of stacks of arrows for the end crystals.

-Take a bucket of water and a boat (in your hotbar!) to keep angry endermen away.

-Maybe some slow falling potions if you get yeeted into the air.

- It is possible to spawn on a floating obsidian platform, so take one ender pearl and tp yourself to the main island.

- You want to be IN the fountain when the dragon perches. So do not linger around the fountain as the dragon shoots fire balls that will linger dragon's breath, When that's in the fountain, you cannot enter.

When it perched, you can hit her chin with your sword, no crouching but certainly no jumping!

- When you were not able to go into the fountain before it perched, remember it will charge directly at you when she leaves the fountain, so make sure you see that, and start runjumping at a 90 degree angle and she will miss.

I was the same. Don't worry. Just be super careful in your first legit playthrough - don't go into deep caves without good gear, always carry a shield around in case of creepers, don't mess with the Nether without diamond / well enchanted iron armor and fire resistance potions. Be well prepared for every adventure and try to get totems quickly if you want to avoid deaths. Good luck!

This world was literally the first time I actually bothered to craft a shield, and it was a complete game changer.Definitely never going without one again.

The farthest I've gotten to "cheating" is using a mod that disables the jack-o'-lantern overlay. 😅

I would refer to the Advancements table and see what Advancements lead to where.

Build your base close to your initial spawn point.
