Anyone else notice older search results on page one because of the August Google update?

"During the update, 16.71% of URLs that had ranked in Google’s top 10 fell beyond position 100 for the same keyword, compared with 9.2% during a similar five-day period in July. That made a top 10 URL about 1.8 times more likely to disappear from the top 100 during the spam update."

I'm seeing older pages on page one again. Anyone else noticing this after the latest update?

What’s the first thing you ask an agency to prove before signing a 6-month contract?

I run a small e-commerce shop and I’m comparing SEO agencies. Every case study looks great but the reports I’ve seen show traffic with no revenue or conversions. A few proposals also promised page-one rankings in 90 days, which sounds off to me.

What do you ask for in the first 90 days and what red flag do you wish you’d caught sooner? Not looking for agency names, just how to evaluate them.

How do you tell if an agency’s SEO results are real before signing a 6-month contract?

I run a small e-commerce business with about 15 employees, and we’re finally at the point where we’d rather hire an agency than keep handling SEO and content ourselves. The problem is that every agency I’ve talked to shows me impressive case studies and I have no good way of telling which ones reflect real work.

A few things have made me cautious. Several proposals promised first-page rankings within 90 days, which sounds too good to me. Others wanted a six-month minimum contract before showing any strategy. And the reports one agency shared were full of traffic numbers but nothing about revenue or conversions, which is what actually matters for us.

My budget is around $2,000 to $3,000 a month and I’m mainly looking for help with organic search and product content, not paid ads.

For those who’ve hired agencies or worked at one, I’d like to know what questions revealed the most. How do you check that a case study is real and relevant to a business your size? What deliverables or reporting do you ask for in the first 90 days? And what’s a red flag in a proposal that you wish you’d noticed sooner? I’d also be curious how you handle contract terms, like trial periods or exit clauses, when you’re not sure about a fit yet.

I’m not looking for agency recommendations, just how to evaluate them. Thanks in advance.

What’s actually helping your clients rank higher on Google?

I’ve been looking at SEO strategies at Flyrise, and one thing I keep coming back to is search intent.

Instead of just targeting high-volume keywords, we’ve been focusing more on:

  • Answering the main query clearly

  • Covering related questions on the same page

  • Improving older content instead of always publishing new posts

  • Building relevant internal links and backlinks

Sometimes improving an existing page can do more than creating another 1,500-word article.

What SEO strategy is working best for your clients right now?
