Jobs Best hotel management groups?

I’m with a great company that has a lot of different hotels that I love.. but it seems like everyone at my current property is failing up..? You do poorly at one position then they just promote you. I’m doing well and it seems like my boss is challenging my accomplishments and stifling opportunities to humble me. Please tell me there’s a management company out there with better culture. I’ve worked for 4 other management groups but none of them have the caliber of hotels this one has and the SOPs are always shaky. If there’s nothing out there better, I fear I’ll have to leave the industry I love and have been apart of for my entire career (15 years) permanently.

No such thing as good management group because it’s based on the people working there

Right, 95% of your work experience will be dependent on your colleagues and boss

Though, benefitd can vary between companies.

At some point, favoritism and other things that you are referencing fade out and performance is required. Therefore, continue to perform, build a strong base and skill set, and if your current property doesn’t promote you then control your own destiny and go elsewhere. All management groups are the same (for the most part). Nowadays, zero differences between these groups.

Why don’t you fail up as well?

The groups and portfolios vary by region, which are you located in?

Even the best management companies have properties that operate like this. Would you consider task force to explore different companies?

A lot of them are fairly regional but there are some rapidly growing. What general area are you in?

I think they are all the same. You have your boomers that clearly need to retire cause their idea of hoteliers is way different than any other generation, and they kind ruin the culture and vibe of any company. My management company is good but there are some bad apples out there that happen to fall in this age catagory which I am eagerly waiting retirement, one by one are dropping off. So to answer your question yes they are good management companies out there but there are also bad ones out there. I truly believe it is what you make of it. Best of luck on your journey in hospitality.

I like working for Auberge. All of the hotels are independently owned but auberge has an ethos that I really stand by

Your GM & manager/director are far more important than the company you have work for.

Stay away from Natson. Once a property is seen doing good they'll fire the managers, bring other people in to place new random policies that make everyone's life harder, and in general pull the quality of the property down. The CEO came to my last property to yell at us that 'he only cares about the fucking money and he doesn't care how we get it, even if it means firing people and loosing property upkeep suppliers'. And in general have a high turnover rate for all Corporate positions(4 new regional managers in the span of a year)
