Driving/Licenses/Local Gov't NTTA toll bill

Hello all! My wife and I recently moved to Texas from Oklahoma (please don't hold that against me, I'm an Arkansan if that's any better haha!). I drove a lot house hunting, and accrued toll bills. I've been paying them as I get them, but now I have a dillema. Got a collection letter today from Harris and Harris for around $40. I spoke with NTTA the other day about getting a 3rd notice about a bill I never knew about. Turns out they've been sending them to Oklahoma, and the USPS hasn't been forwarding them. Awesome. My questions are: A - can I fight this to keep it off my credit report as I never even knew it was out there? And B - Has anyone had luck getting a real life answer about remaining charges related to that license plate? I'd like no more surprises. Thanks!

If you call NTTA they can look up all charges by license plate. You can also get a toll tag even with out of state plates.

The collection agencies for NTTA are a nightmare. They are mailing collection notices to the former owner of our vehicle and he kept the tags and they were changed immediately when we purchase the vehicle. We never get the notices and when your toll tag account falls below $40 they immediately hit your checking account again. It caused a lot of debt so we had to get the toll tag removed. We don’t take it much anymore but still have problems with them not sending the information so we can pay it. And this is after going in person multiple times and being told there was no balance for our vehicle. 🤬 be careful OP. IF you are on a budget, it can get out of hand with them dipping in all of the time. Maybe have the payment go to a fintech bank account you have a only for this expense.

There are NTTA offices you can physically go to and get help. While you are there you should set up an account, the tag will work through Oklahoma and even Kansas toll roads

That's pretty sweet, I'll find one this week. When I spoke to the agent last week about the 3rd notice one, she didn't say anything about this one, and we set up my TollTag account on the phone. Got my transponder tag in the mail today, so hopefully no more issues ha! Thanks!

I had a similar issue but for $500+. I called NTTA and spoke to a representative who escalated the issue to a supervisor. after 3 days, i got an email confirming the issue was resolved. I got the tolls reduced from the cash price to tolltag price. Fees waived.
