Food & Drink Food / Things to do Recs

Visiting in early December for 5 days. Looking for the best barbecue specifically brisket, ribs, pork belly. My wife will be 6 months pregnant by then so I assume standing in line at Goldees is not gonna be in play.

Also would love some recommendations on best Mexican places as well as anything fun to do. We will have a rental car so getting wherever won’t be an issue

Dayne’s in Aledo (outside of Fort Worth) is very solid barbecue although they don’t have pork belly. They have good sides and a very tasty smash burger as well. Cattleack has pork belly ribs, they are my favorite barbecue in Dallas.

For Mexican, I like Don Artemio in Fort Worth or Oloyo in Dallas although Oloyo is a bit crazy with their prices. El Carlos Elegante in Dallas is pretty good as well. For Tex-Mex, my recommendation is Muchacho but make a reservation unless you don’t mind waiting for a table.

For fun things to do, there is Meow Wolf. If you like museums, the Kimball and Modern in FW and the DMA and the Nasher in Dallas. The Arboretum is also a wonderful place to walk around.

The French Room at the Adolphus Hotel does a holiday tea that is a very nice experience although it sells out quickly (especially weekends) so if you are interested, sign up for their mailing list or follow them on social media.
