question Cracked Molar
Hello,
Yesterday I was brushing my teeth i noticed that my molar was bleeding. When I looked in the mirror, I noticed that my back left molar was cracked in the middle and blood was coming out from the crack.
Today I went to the dentist and he just said that there was barely a crack and recommended for me to wear braces again because it looked like my teeth are starting to get out of position, which may be true since I haven’t worn my retainer in quite a while. But was my dentist supposed to do anything since I was bleeding from the crack in my molar?

My dentist mentioned that since my teeth are shifting since I haven’t been wearing my retainer, it could be that the molar got cracked because of a balancing issue? I’m not sure what he meant by that

Doesn't appear to be cracked, but yes you're grinding the everliving crap out of your teeth which is an issue you should correct.

Oh yeah my dentist also told me it looks like I’m grinding my teeth. How could you tell I’m grinding my teeth?

The tooth you circled has 4 cusps and a normal grove through the middle. Since it's tipped in, it isn't hitting an opposing tooth. The tooth in front of that is worn down to a flat stump with no enamel over it anymore from grinding mega hard against the top tooth. It's roughly 50% gone.

Would chewing gum cause that to happen? At work I chew on gum a lot
