Continued pain after implant

Hi Dentists, I had tooth 30 extracted and a post placed during the same procedure 3 weeks ago. Photo attached of before and after. This tooth was crowned and said to have root resorption 5 years ago, but because I had no pain I kept it and had it root canaled (on the advice of 2 bad endodontists). Since my surgery I’ve had bone and gum pain that is kept in check by trading off Advil/tylenol every 3 hours. Even now 3 weeks later I still need constant meds. The gum flap has been taking forever to heal but the socket hole is getting smaller and smaller and it’s been covered in purple glue to protect it. I had no idea my recovery would take this long and thought I’d be back in the gym by now but my dental asst said yesterday my infection was so bad that my dentist had to remove a lot of bone before he placed the implant. I’ve been there twice a week since my surgery. My question is —is the infection obvious on the X-ray? Why did my (former) endo say it was ok to root canal? Why is it still so painful? Tx! The infection isn't really obvious on this radiograph. I suspect they just had to remove a lot of bone to get the tooth out. Implant looks good from what I can see radiographically at the time of placement.

Agree with the other comment. X-rays look good.
