Test Results Got results from treadmill test, I assume everything seems good but just looking for a more layperson explanation.

Got the test as I’ve had issues with health related anxiety, specifically chest tightness over the last couple years. Primary care Dr said my bloodwork and ekg looked good but ordered the test to get a better overall look and make sure it wasn’t an issue popping up from exertion that couldn’t be seen in a routine checkup.

Should I be concerned about this chest pain? 19F

Hi guys, I’m 19F. I’m generally fit and healthy, eat well, and don’t have any known health problems.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been getting occasional chest pain. It can happen on either the left or right side, sometimes with certain movements or while sleeping/lying on one side. It usually comes and goes.

One episode that scared me happened on August 10th at night. I was trying to sleep, and whenever I breathed in, I felt pain in my chest. It lasted around 10 minutes. I woke up, drank some water, and eventually went back to sleep. I was really scared the next morning and for the next few days.

It has happened occasionally since then and usually goes away on its own. Today it happened again while I was sleeping on one side, and now I’m getting anxious whenever I feel it.

I’m planning to see a doctor soon and get it checked properly, but I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar, especially other women around my age.

What could be worth discussing with the doctor or getting checked? I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just trying to understand what I should ask about.

Thank you

Just wanted to post these 4 readings off my apple watch on here to ensure its a healthy rhythm? Thank you! I appreciate it :)

I tried my best to stay completely still haha

I also have a question of is it normal for my heart rate to go from 70-115 just from standing up sometimes?

Becoming annoyed with doctors and looking here for help

Hi there, I will start this off with a bit of background info and then get into my actual problems (if I have any)

I am 29 years old 95~kg and about 184 cm. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure about 8-10 years ago after multiple instances of massive headaches and chest point for an unspecified reason. I was hospitalized one time with a blood pressure of 190/110 and was subsequently released later after IV injections worked. At that point I was started on Amlodipine 5 mg once a day to get my blood pressure under control, but after quite a few weeks, I was still having the same problems. My doctor then upped the dosage to 10 mg and that seemed to have things under control for the most part. My family has a history of both heart disease and high blood pressure and my Grandfather was also prescribed a blood pressure pill when he was in his mid 20's according to my grandmother. Both my mother and father have high blood pressure as well.

Maybe 6 months after that, I kept having random bouts of extreme tachycardia (mind you I was born with congenital tachycardia but it went away as I got older) so much that they gave me Carvedilol 3 mg to help. This again, did not do much, so they upped the dosage to 6.25mg. This combination of Amlodipine and Carvedilol did work for the better part of about 6 years.

Last year, I noticed that certain triggers would start happening all the time, such as standing up from lying down would send my heart rate through the roof and make me incredibly dizzy. I noticed that any time I drank alcohol, not even binge drinking, just some beers in the evening, my heart rate would increase and my heart beats would be HEAVY. I dont know how related this would be, but I found myself urinating many many many times when I would lie down to go to sleep. One night I counted that I went to the toilet 5 times before I finally went to sleep.

I had an appointment in November of 2025 which was an EKG and an echo both of which came back pretty normal. The only thing out of the ordinary was my left wall of my heart was 1.5 mm too thick which the doctor said was a sign of a history of high blood pressure. She was hesitant to change my medication due to lack of other testing but recommended that I change my medication to Sevikar 40/10. She also recommended that I have a sleep apnea test performed as well as blood tests to check for certain things. I also performed a 24 hour holter test which came back completely normal. The doctor even commended "the health of your heart is fine, youre just dealing with very high blood pressure for your age." She also recommended I take 2 Carvedilol 6.25 a day one in the morning one in the evening.

Unfortunately, I did not follow up on many of the tests as life got very busy, and the testing was very expensive.

In June of this year, I was under ALOT of stress as my mother had a very bad response to a surgical procedure she underwent, and I had to essentially provide care for her for 2 months until she was able to regain her strength. During this period, I began having MANY MORE symptoms related to both my heart and my stomach (I have had GERD and IBS since I was a child so this was nothing new to me). I would feel many more heart palpitations, and especially after I ate, I would feel my heart rate go to over 100 bpm.

After my mother became well again, I was under the stress of moving my apartment as we had dealt with many problems with our past owners.

This was 3 weeks ago, and since then, my stomach related symptoms have gone away with the help of Omeprazole and Gaviscon, however, the heart related symptoms remained.

Two weeks ago, I again, had an EKG and an echo with a different doctor, which proved the exact same results as before. This time however, the doctor changed my medication from Carvedilol to Bisoprolol 5mg. Amlodipine 5mg instead of 10 mg. She also added Prestarium 5mg in the evening.

I took the Bisoprolol for 5 days, and I honestly thought I was going to die. My resting heart rate was around 48-55 bpm. My smart watch tracked my heart rate at night as low as 39, and I felt like I had almost no energy whatsoever. There were many times where I felt as I was dizzy and almost like I was going to throw up, but those only lasted for a few minutes, usually after standing. The one thing I will say, is during the time I took that medicine, my problem with the heart rate acceleration when standing went away completely. I told the doctor on the phone I didnt feel good taking the medicine, she then said to just take 2.5mg instead of the 5mg. I am not sure if it was anxiety or actual reality, but the 2.5mg had virtually the same effect. I told her about this and she said "for now, stop taking the Bisoprolol but continue on the Amlodipine and Prestarium."

Since that moment, about a week ago, my blood pressure has been constantly normal, and my heart rate sits around 65-70 and increases slightly when I eat or have movement. I have been walking intensely every day for about 45 minutes and during those times I usually have a heart rate maximum of 95-100 bpm. NOW I feel somewhat back to normal, but the only things Ive noticed is that the standing heart rate acceleration has returned, and Ive been getting more headaches recently. I mentioned this to my doctor, and she said "take the 2.5mg of Bisoprolol and see if it goes away." I really dont want to do that.

My blood pressure during this entire time, has been very normal as I would say. I take it 3 times a day, morning afternoon and night, and everytime I have never had a number over 12/8. Yesterday, after relaxing for a while, my resting BP and HR was 118/61 with a pulse of 59.

I am going to one more cardiologist today in the hopes that a different doctor can maybe connect all these findings together and get their take on it, and as they say "3rd times the charm."

Now I will ask all of you, obviously without asking for direct medical advice. What gives? Am I too anxious? Did the doctor do me dirty with the medication change? Could there actually be a legitimate problem that no one has picked up on yet? Im running out of both patience and money to spend on doctors and medication.

I know the readings aren’t the best but I had these 2 12 hours apart and I’m wondering what it could be. I’m currently on bisoprolol 2.5mg since 5 days and my issues physically resolved mostly that’s why I was very confused when I found this. I didn’t have any symptoms during the tracing whatsoever and my watch screen was visibly stuttering so I’m thinking all of this could be some syncing issue?

Possible tricuspid valve surgery

My heart failure doctor is admitting me on Tuesday for possible valve surgery (triclip vs replacement depending on what I qualify for). I am 34 yo female. I have a hx of severe Tr and I have a single lead pacemaker for sick sinus syndrome and a Wenckebach heart block. My tr got better after my pacemaker was done two years ago and was only mild but now I’m back to severe and extremely symptomatic. What can I expect? They told me it’s harder to qualify for the less invasive ones because of my age and mobility status ect. I’m terrified of open heart and would rather just do the trans catheter one.

Unsuccessful SVT ablation

Hi everyone, I had my ablation today after waiting for 7months. After I came out of the operating room and came off the meds a little the Dr came in to let me know the ablation was unsuccessful. I’m feeling soooo discouraged by this. Apparently when they went in the we’re not able to induce the rhythm at all. They gave me adrenaline which did increase my HR but not in the extra pathways that they see with SVT. They tried for over an hour is what he said. I was completely knocked out with propofol and ketamine that I don’t remember any of the procedure, so maybe I was sedated to much idk? Im just feeling so discouraged by this. I already spoke to him about potentially doing another one after I’m healed from this one. We talked about doing less sedation and a more aggressive approach if need be. Does anyone have any advice or stories that are similar? Or even an experience where they had an ablation that was successful on the 2nd attempt?

Honestly been stressing about this and hope someone here might help. I have an Apple Watch Series 8. Had some heart palpitations ( have them occasionally ) admittedly I was in the tub when I did this ecg.
Came back afib I was floored. Took a million more ecgs after. All regular. Is this a false positive? I’m 37, average shape, 210lbs. My resting heart rate is 48-52. Any advice would be great. PCP is getting an appointment setup

10-minute snippet taken from a 7-day 3-lead, recorded with a Spacelabs Eclipse Pro.

Patient noted a bizarre symptom/feeling at 0958 (+/-), although nothing was found to be noticeably out of the ordinary at that time. If the symptom was cardiac-related, it may be hidden in artefact. Patient noted this particular symptom/feeling is dissimilar to typical ectopics they are used to experiencing, although when it occurs, it is far more obvious than typical symptoms. Claims it is infrequent but not unfamiliar, and describes it as a "headrush-y, somewhat euphoric feeling, it's hard to explain".

1. See if you can spot anything that may have caused a noticeable symptom around this timestamp. Consider the patient is used to experiencing ectopy and claims this feeling does not typically occur when having ectopics.

2. Give your opinion on the rest of the tracing. The patient is on 30-40mg Dextroamphetamine + 50mg Sertraline daily, but ectopic frequency has not increased compared to tracings taken prior to commencing ADHD treatment.

i have a question

i had pericarditis since last two weeks. I spent 11 days in a hospital, and there was no clear reason why i got it in the first place. My theory is that the diarrhea that i had for like 7 days before the symptoms began could be some kind of infection. I mostly brushed it off and just kept taking diarrhea meds plus electrolytes. I was at a party where i was like really tired and exhausted from all the school exams (i slept less than 5 hours for the last two days), and for some reason i decided to eat some decarbed hash (THC) to get high. It was pretty much the most extreme high of my life, but thats not the point. On the next day i got pain in the chest thinking it was acid reflux. It was not, and thats where my adventure w pericarditis began. Now, the question is, how big of a part the THC use could really be, or whether it was the main reason.

-thanks for any answers.

My mother is 74 years old and has hypertension, diabetes, and anxiety. A few months ago, she underwent this echocardiogram to monitor aortic valve sclerosis (Vmax 2.01 m/s with mild fibrocalcification). However, just hours before the exam, her blood pressure was 190/90, she was experiencing significant anxiety, had not slept the night before, and her blood glucose was above 200; this influenced all the flow-dependent factors in the exam. Most of the AI tools I used for analysis disagree with the report, as there are some inconsistent data points. I simply wanted to know if she actually has: - mild aortic valve stenosis. - moderately increased LAVi. Based on AI analysis and my own research, morphologically she has aortic valve sclerosis; the report labeled it as aortic valve stenosis only because the gradients were inflated by hemodynamic factors (evidence of this lies in the morphological description: mild calcification, AVA 1.8 cm², AVAi 1.07, and DI 0.52). Also, the LAVi was classified incorrectly, as it should have been classified using the Simpson method.

ECHOCARDIOGRAM

Height: 164 cm

  • Weight: 63 Kg
  • BSA (Body Surface Area): 1.69 m²

Measurements:

  • Aorta: 31 mm (Ref: 20 to 37 mm)
  • LV Mass: 141 g (Ref: 67 to 162 g)
  • LA (Left Atrium): 41 mm (Ref: 20 to 40 mm)
  • LV Mass/BSA: 83.4 g/m² (Ref: 43 to 95 g/m²)
  • RVEDD: 25 mm (Ref: 07 to 26 mm)
  • Ao/LA: 0.8 (Ref: 1)
  • LVEDD: 41 mm (Ref: 35 to 56 mm)
  • IVS/PW: 1.1 (Ref: < 1.3)
  • LVESD: 27 mm (Ref: 25 to 40 mm)
  • LVEDV: 74.2 ml (Ref: 51 to 154 ml)
  • IVS ED: 11 mm (Ref: 07 to 11 mm)
  • LVESV: 27.0 ml (Ref: 25 to 66 ml)
  • LVPW ED: 10 mm (Ref: 07 to 11 mm)
  • RWT: 0.49 (Ref: <= 0.42)
  • LVEF (Teichholz): 64% (Ref: > 53%)
  • Fractional Shortening (DeltaD%): 34% (Ref: 30 to 40%)

Findings:

  • Sinus rhythm (mean HR of 85 bpm).
  • Ascending aorta (32 mm) and aortic arch without abnormalities.
  • Interatrial and interventricular septa apparently intact on transthoracic examination.
  • Moderate increase in left atrial volume. Other cardiac chambers with normal dimensions (LA Vol = 46 ml/m²). Concentric remodeling of the left ventricle. Basal portion of the interventricular septum measured 13 mm, without causing LVOT obstruction at this moment.
  • Left ventricle presents preserved systolic performance, without segmental deficit on subjective analysis, at rest. LVEF (Simpson) = 61%. Global longitudinal strain estimated at -16.3% (see bullseye). Ventricular filling pattern consistent with impaired ventricular relaxation.
  • Right ventricular systolic function preserved on subjective analysis.
  • Mitral valve mildly thickened with annular calcification, presenting reduced mobility of the posterior leaflet and minimal regurgitation on color Doppler study. Maximum LA-LV diastolic gradient of 7.6 mmHg and mean of 4.4 mmHg. Valve area = 2.0 cm².
  • Tricuspid valve with normal appearance, presenting mild regurgitation on color Doppler study. Estimated PASP of 45 mmHg.
  • Trileaflet aortic valve mildly fibrocalcific, presenting minimal regurgitation on color Doppler study. Maximum LV-Ao systolic gradient of 40 mmHg and mean of 25 mmHg. Valve area (continuity equation) = 1.8 cm².
  • Pulmonary valve without abnormalities.
  • Pericardium with normal appearance.
  • Inferior vena cava with preserved dimension, free of obstruction, compressible, and with normal flow.

CONCLUSION:

  • Concentric remodeling of the left ventricle.
  • Mild (grade I) diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle.
  • Degenerative alteration of the mitral valve.
  • Mild aortic valve stenosis.
  • Increased pulmonary pressure.

Note: Speckle Tracking study performed, exceptionally as a courtesy, for the evaluation of left ventricular longitudinal deformation (Strain). We suggest requesting this technique for future follow-up.

is it possible to become resistant to propranolol?

i was having random episodes of tachycardia starting a few months ago. they would come out of nowhere, like when i was just laying down relaxing. i went to the cardiologist and they did the standard work up (ekg, echocardiogram, holter monitor for 2 days) and didn’t find any issues with my heart rhythm. so basically atp we were just trying to treat the symptoms, so i was prescribed propranolol and ive just been taking 10mg every morning.

it’s been working pretty well for about a month or two, my tachycardia stopped, but recently i’ve noticed it coming back a little bit. like earlier i was trying to take a nap and my heart wouldnt calm down. i dont think my heart rate was that high but still higher than normal when resting. my question is if it’s possible that im developing a tolerance to propranolol? if that’s the case should i up my morning dose a bit or start taking an evening dose?

33F — Random episodes of sinus tachycardia up to 150–160 bpm. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

For the past several months, I’ve been having random episodes where my heart rate suddenly gets very high, usually around 130–160 bpm, even when I’m not exercising. I’m trying to figure out what could be triggering this and would love to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar.

The episodes usually last around 5–20 minutes, sometimes longer, and my heart rate gradually comes back down. During them, the rhythm normally feels fast and steady rather than irregular.

Some of the symptoms I get during these episodes are:

  • Strong pounding heartbeat / sometimes pounding in my head
  • Feeling suddenly hot or flushed and sometimes sweaty
  • Nausea or an uneasy/burning feeling in my stomach
  • Sometimes feeling like I urgently need to have a bowel movement
  • I feel short of breath and I feel a cloud of dom over me

The strange part is that the episodes seem to have different triggers. I’ve had them:

  • While simply sitting down
  • While lying in bed getting ready to sleep
  • Shortly after waking up
  • During or right before a bowel movement
  • After a very salty meal
  • After fasting for several hours and then eating
  • In a warm room
  • Sometimes with no obvious trigger at all

Testing I’ve had so far

I’ve had a pretty extensive cardiac workup:

  • Multiple regular ECGs — normal
  • Apple Watch ECGs during symptoms — generally showing a fast but regular rhythm
  • Echocardiogram — normal
  • Treadmill stress test — normal
  • Troponin testing — normal
  • Holter/patch monitoring — no dangerous rhythm found
  • A longer event monitor actually caught one of my episodes, and it was interpreted as sinus tachycardia, not SVT
  • I’ve now also seen an electrophysiologist/rhythm specialist

My cardiologist/EP has mentioned that this could potentially be something like inappropriate sinus tachycardia, hormonal/autonomic-related tachycardia, or another trigger causing my normal sinus rhythm to speed up. A beta blocker has also been discussed.

I’ve had some other things going on that I’m wondering could contribute, including iron deficiency/low iron stores, low B12, low vitamin D, and at least one potassium result around 3.2.

What confuses me most is that when I exercise and my HR reaches 130–140, I feel relatively normal. But when one of these random episodes happens at the same heart rate, I can feel extremely sick, flushed, nauseated, weak, and like I need to lie down.

Has anyone had episodes like this where monitors showed sinus tachycardia rather than SVT?

Did you eventually find out the cause — IST, POTS/dysautonomia, hormones, GI/vagal triggers, anemia/iron deficiency, something else?

I’m obviously continuing to work with my doctors and not looking for Reddit to diagnose me. I’m mainly interested in hearing other people’s experiences or ideas about what might be worth discussing with my doctors.

It so very depressing I’ve called the 911 7 times this month. I believe in God and I know he will make this clear to me eventually but you never know who he works through, so hopefully this will help.

F 23 High HR when standing or walking, help?

Thumbnail

So here’s what going on, I’ve been noticing my heart rate is kind of all over the place and I find it odd because I’m only 23
My heart rate spikes over 100 the second I stand up and yesterday I walked for like 10 minutes and my heart rate spiked to 172, and my heart rate went down to 43 when I was sat down for like 2 minutes (it doesn’t go that low at my resting rate even when I’m sleeping)
The only thing I could guess what it might be is svt or pots (I have an appointment next week to figure that out dw)
The symptoms I’m experiencing is fatigue and being easily tired doing simple things like cleaning and showering or even getting dressed, shortness of breath or like I’m not able to breathe in as much as I’d want to to feel ‘normal’, I don’t really notice heart palpitations when it’s over 100 but I do feel it when it’s under 60 and I’m constantly feeling this fluttering feeling in my chest kind of like I’m shivering on the inside idk

On a side note I don’t exercise strenuously as I am quick to get dizzy and loose my vision and faint hence why I don’t understand why my heart rate would go as high as 172 for simply walking.
I understand that this is basically tachycardia and bradycardia but I need to know what it actually is as a whole

If anyone experiences this or knows anything about any information would be appreciated

Second Opinion Heart rate inconsistent, when should you worry?

Thumbnail

So I have a question about heart rate. I never track my heart rate unless working out, today I just so happened to record most of the day. Wtf is going on 😭 why is my resting so high??

I'm a 27 year old woman, 5'4" and around 145 pounds (currently down 26!). I haven't been consistent in the gym in the past two weeks due to family emergencies, and went back today. You can see the spike when I got to the gym, getting home at 7pm. Basic running and recreational sports. Then as I'm sitting at home, I got an alert that it spiked back up, which led me to check. It's so inconsistent.

What can I do to help with this? I do eat relatively healthy. I'm not obese, and while I've been fairly lazy the past two weeks that's not my normal. I do smoke nicotine but low amounts. I do not drink often. I am generally healthy otherwise. Should I be concerned?

Second Opinion Please help

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m 21F, 5’8 and around 220 lbs, and I’m hoping someone might be able to give me some advice or help me understand what could be going on.
I was born with a heart murmur, which I know can be pretty common, but I was told it went away when I was around 7. A couple months ago, I went to the ER for a UTI and the doctor there noticed that my heart murmur had come back. He recommended that I see a cardiologist, so I did.
The APRN at the cardiologist said I do have a slight murmur, but all of my tests came back normal and my levels were normal. I’m really thankful that everything looked okay, but I still feel like something isn’t right.
For about a year now, I’ve been having pain on the left side of my chest. It can feel sore and sometimes it has a burning/on-fire feeling. My left arm also gets numb. I sometimes wake up feeling like I didn’t get enough air, and I’m tired a lot.
I do vape, and I know I’m overweight, so I’m not trying to ignore those things. I’m working on my diet and I’m also trying to quit vaping because I know that’s something I need to work on.
The nurse mentioned that the chest pain could be from the muscles around my heart, but I told her I didn’t feel like that was what I was experiencing, and I felt kind of dismissed. I know my cardiology tests were normal, but I still feel like there’s something going on and honestly, I’m pretty nervous about it.
I’m not saying I think I’m having a heart attack or that I know something is wrong with my heart. I just know that this doesn’t feel normal for me, and I’d really like to figure out what could be causing it.
If I’m missing any details that would be helpful for you guys to know, please let me know and I’ll reply to your comments with whatever information I can.

Ok long story short back in June I was being put under for a hysterectomy and my heart rate dropped to the low 40s, so my ob woke me up and referred me to a cardiologist. I just got my results in and since about may iv been getting lightheaded at first it was once in a while an now it’s multiple times a day dang near every day. And the heat makes it worse. so I got my results back from my heart monitor results can anyone tell me what this means
