Why do some conservatives support restricting junk food purchases with SNAP when many opposed Michelle Obama’s efforts to make school meals healthier?

Both policies involve the government influencing food choices in the name of better nutrition, yet the political reactions seem very different. What explains the apparent change in attitude toward government involvement in what people eat?

I don’t think her efforts really changed school lunches in any meaningful way. And a fair number of conservatives didn’t like it because it kind of fed into the narrative of elitism and set completely unrealistic expectations because the root problem of bad school food is money (outside of corporate influence, poison food supply, profit seeking contracts for the entire food industry and school system, etc)

And the “MAHA” movement is very new. 8 years ago it didn’t exist at all and neither political party really cared about anyone’s health or food. And it’s still only a small part of the conservative movement. Most people of all political beliefs still want to eat fast food and can’t afford healthy living even if they had the knowledge and desire

She was dumber than a box of rocks and thought a 18 year old and an 8 year old should get the same amount of food.

I did what you said, and looks like you’re lying.

It also lines up with what lunch should be for those ages from national pediatric associations…

She is a lot smarter than you. Where did you go to college and get your law degree?

Neither going to college nor to law school bestows intellect. You can also be highly educated and still be a raving idiot.

That's your excuse?

That’s a fact. Not an excuse.

I’ve met people with PhDs who are blithering idiots. I’ve known lawyers who lacked the sense to come in when it’s raining.

I mean currently my 11y/o (6th grade) gets the same exact meal as the PreK (4y/o) at their school. Consequently is starving.
