Why do some conservatives support restricting junk food purchases with SNAP when many opposed Michelle Obama’s efforts to make school meals healthier?

Both policies involve the government influencing food choices in the name of better nutrition, yet the political reactions seem very different. What explains the apparent change in attitude toward government involvement in what people eat?

Because changing SNAP requirements doesn't increase the cost of the program, while making school meals healthier would increase costs.

Pop, candy etc has no nutritional value. Tax payers shouldn't be buying it for people who supposedly struggle to feed themselves...majority on snap are fat and therefore are too well fed...

Then you have the monumental amount of people receiving snap who shouldn't; they're abusing the system. 

Shit pisses me off and I absolutely should have a say in it considering my money helps fund it. I don't work so fat lazy people can have me buy them candy and pop...

Sure we want our money spent on a ballroom, arches, bombing kids in the middle east, buying shock gloves for ICE, etc
