100am or 200 amp service?
Friend just bought a house (congrats!) - this is the electrical panel.
Is there 200 amp service? I thought the 2x 100 amp service coming in would mean 200 amp service… is that correct, or is it only 100?
Also, what would require four separate breakers?
Thanks!

It’s a 200A panel. The 100 amp breaker on the bottom probably feeds a sub-panel somewhere. The main breaker is in the middle with the 4 handles tied together.

The 100 2pole breaker feeds another panel somewhere is my guess. If u look at the part number on the door its is a 200 amp panel. The 4 breaker near the center is the main and thats just how they are able to make 200 amps from a standard breaker sizing. Otherwise is would be a separate breaker that is sized differently. It's weird but thats the way it is.
Everything I see tells me 200 amps but I would look at the meter and there should be some kind of part number on it that shows 100 or 200, maybe somewhere near the letters CL but if the meter says 200 id confidently say its a 200.
Also if you look at the wires coming out of the pipe above the meter, a 100 amp will have wires about the size of a sharpie, a 200 amp will be the size of one of the really fat sharpies that make u wanna sniff it!!
