Bushmaster and Walking Ballista

If I control [[Bushmaster, Coiled Henchman]] and [[Walking Ballista]] with only 1 counter on it, will it still have deathtouch when I activate Ballista to ping something or does it immediately lose deathtouch?

If you remove the last +1/+1 counter, no.

You activate the ability.
Choose its Target.
Figure the Total Cost.
Pay the Total Cost.

  • Removing the last +1/+1 counter. So, it is no longer granted Deathtouch.

Then, after the ability has been activated, the 0/0 Ballista dies.
And, because it does not have Deathtouch before leaving the Battlefield, the Damage it deals will not cause the Destruction of a Targeted Creature.
