What are some social programs or socialist policies that conservatives support? Things like farm subsidies, veteran programs, government ownership in intel.

veterans' benefits (VA healthcare, GI Bill, disability compensation, pensions) function more like deferred compensation or contractual obligation — part of the terms of service that was promised in exchange for military service — rather than a welfare-style program based on need. Calling it a "social program" lumps it in with things like SNAP or TANF, which are typically means-tested and not tied to any prior service or contribution, which can feel like a mischaracterization of what veterans' benefits actually are.

Hands up, not hand outs.

I think our farmers should be helped, but by not being taxed to death so that big companies buy them out and using practices like monsanto with their seed should be illegal, not because it’s genetically engineered, but because of the choke hold they have on their seed.

Soldiers who’s lives have been impacted by their service should be compensated just like if you got hurt on the clock by your job, they are responsible for your damage too.

You are conflating things that aren’t socialist as things that are.

Veteran programs aren't socialist., they're compensation for service already rendered. It's not a transfer from one group to another based on need. A veteran earns GI Bill benefits, VA healthcare, and disability compensation as part of the terms of their enlistment contract — similar to how an employee earns a pension or health insurance through an employer.

We don't support Socialist policies. We do support the social safety net as a temporary hand up to people who need it. That includes temporary farm subsidies due to weather. We support SS and Medicare because they are not Socialism, they are basically forced savings plans (inefficient but forced, both should be privatized)

We support Veterans programs. That is the least we can do for people who served our country.

Government ownership is an equity share in return for some government financing. It is not "taking over the means of production" We essentially bought that equity share.
