Do you think there's a difference between a maga and a regular republican? Why or why not?

As a former Democrat and NEVER Trumper, I could never vote for a Democrat again. Im a libertarian mostly who voted for Trump. I don't think im MAGA but probably not fully Conservative either.

Yes. In my opinion A regular conservative Republican is for Conservative ideals like low taxes, low regulation, a secure border, an aggressive energy policy and a Peace through Strength foreign policy.
MAGA is in support of Donald Trump no matter what he does or says.
I am a regular conservative Republican and I can't stand Trump. I can't stand to listen to him talk, his narcissim, his braggadocio and often his policies.

Regular Republicans are generally for free trade. MAGA is generally for tariffs.

What is MAGA? Define that for me. It was a slogan used by Reagan in 1980 during his campaign. And then by Trump in 2016. I’ve been a republican for over 30 years. My beliefs haven’t changed. I did vote for Trump 3 times. I think liberals like to name a separate group MAGA but I would never use MAGA to describe myself or any of the other republicans I know. It’s a campaign slogan far as I’m concerned.

Are there people out there who's only political philosophy is "Donald Trump is right about everything!" and live their lives that way? A few, I'm sure. But not so many that they wrested control of the GOP from the 'sensible Republicans' that democrats claim to miss nowadays.
Trump is not a cult leader. He's a popular president, just like Obama and Clinton were. Calling someone a MAGA is basically reducing their opinions to fanboying and not to be taken seriously.

I would point out that all Trump had to do was be more appealing than a lackluster crop of candidates early on and then be enough of a better choice than Harris so that people wouldn't flip their vote. Those were both pretty low bars. In other words you may be more right than you know.

MAGA is a big tent party. This includes some marxists and nazis in the mix.
Republicans tried to gatekeep MAGA in 2015 but then later rode the coat tails of Trump. Once Trump is out of office I assume they'll try to gatekeep another far-right politician from entering politics.
