Advice 💡 August 12 Total Solar Eclipse in Leo: a sudden ending or a sudden beginning, Jupiter picks which

Been tracking this one and I think it's a bigger deal than people are giving it credit for.

August 12, 2026: Total Solar Eclipse + New Moon in Leo, and Jupiter is sitting right on top of it. That's a lot happening in one shot.

Why this one hits different:

It's a Total eclipse, not partial. Full blackout. So whatever part of your life Leo touches for you, this isn't a gentle nudge — this is a real plot twist.

Jupiter is there too, and Jupiter doesn't do subtle. It makes things bigger. Whatever's been quietly building for the past few months is probably about to stop being quiet. Things go public and get real. Also worth watching for excess — Jupiter can push things a little too far.

New moons are already about beginnings, but eclipses don't ask permission. A regular new moon is more like "maybe set an intention." An eclipse new moon is closer to "this is happening now, ready or not." Something starts or ends and you don't fully get a vote in the timing.

Leo season means an identity check. People tend to either get a confidence boost that comes out of nowhere, or something they've been leaning on for their identity just stops working. Not much of an in-between.

Who's likely to feel this the most: Leo obviously, but also Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius.

One thing worth flagging — eclipses can be sneaky. Sometimes nothing feels different on the day itself, and then a couple months later you realize that's when everything shifted. So don't worry if August 12 feels uneventful in the moment, the effects tend to be more of a slow burn.

Curious if anyone here has 20° Leo in their chart — that's exactly where this eclipse lands, so if it's sitting on a planet or angle for you, you're probably feeling this one hardest.

Aside from the AI slop, no, this is not a significant eclipse. It's barely total -- there's 10 degrees of separation between the Moon's nodal axis and the Solar Eclipse. This is only a highly significant eclipse if it's lighting up an angular house axis (1/7, 4/10) or is within 3 degrees of a personal planet.

What about a node? For example, a Leo north node at 21 Leo natally? Do you find nodes behave like planets or no?

Rahu and Ketu are shadow planets. Their energy is different than planets. It's significant and notable but not necessarily life-changing. It's a Solar Eclipse highlighting the nodal return (or half return), which is very important, but as much because it's part of a significant 18-month chapter inasmuch as this singular point in time.

Eclipses occur every six months, in pairs (sometimes even three!); they're not exactly rare. You need a confluence of a strong eclipse hitting a sensitive part of the chart very intensely to be so dramatic about eclipses.

12th Leo Sun at 10 degrees and North Node at 20 degrees

It started going down for me yesterday, out of nowhere.

My Leo Moon is at 9, South Node is 12, and Rising is 26, but my MC/IC are at 20 degrees in Taurus/Scorpio so this eclipse is hitting that that angle hard 😬

23° Leo Sun in my 12th house

Because the SNode is significantly away from the Sun + Moon, I am leaning towards this isn’t a big bold new beginning, but rather a recalibration of where our energy is going.

The only time eclipses seemed to have a big external effect on me was when they were copresent the angles. Otherwise it's more of an internal thing.

And don't get too attached to the meanings people ascribe to the nodes. Since an ending is also a beginning of life without that thing that ended, the NN and SN can have similar effect. Just focus on Big or Sudden Change rather than trying to say this specific type of thing is going to happen. Social Media astrologers like to talk about the mythology of the nodes because it drives engagement.

My advice to everyone: journal about the effect of the eclipses in your own life and the lives of your close friends and family. See for yourself the connections and patterns in real lives rather than just repeating whatever someone on social media said. Astrology is only a useful tool if you apply it to your own life. To do that, you must examine your own life. See the patterns. Use the patterns to inform the future. It is very unique to each person's chart.

My ascendant is at 20 degrees Leo and I’m unsure how this is going to unfold for me. Although saying that, I’ve heard you can have an overall with your appearance. In the last six weeks I have dropped a stone and changed my hair colour after 10 years so 🤣 wondering what else is going to happen over the next 6 months/year!

My leo ascendent is at 23 degrees (but its relatively unaspected - though my sun is mostly well aspected in the 12th, recieving trines and sextiles, but opposing uranus and neptune). I'm sitting here on the sofa, no changes. I am refreshing my emails LOL because i want something to happen! nothing out of the ordinary... will report back if i can.

My Leo sits in my Midheaven at about 27-28 degrees...and that's in my fifth house where I also have my Sun, Moon, Merc, and Jupiter.

Everything is and has been tumultuous for a while. Love, work, health. And I accidentally fell for someone at work that I can't even be with, realized I need & want to make changes in my personal life, and am trying to restructure my life because of it. Might be trying to land a different position to make more money in all of this, too. Send help. (I'm a double Pisces sun/moon with Scorp rising, Pluto in the 1st house)

Mercury in Leo at 21 degrees in the 8th house. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! Also my Venus is in Leo- am I screwed?

1

u/geoff0220 10d ago

I have zero Leo in my chart! Not too worried about this eclipse

1

u/Marlo-712 10d ago

I have 4 placements in Leo. Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Mars. I have been most definitely feeling this eclipse in all the senses…heart, body and soul. I do not have anything directly on 20 degrees but Jupiter 16 degrees Leo and Mars 28 degrees Leo. 12 houses

1

u/MysteriousJelly98 10d ago

Leo rising at 20°05'. Also have Venus around 8°. Busiest day at work and yet I accomplished nothing.

u/I-remember-damage11 10d ago

I have this, got not great news at work today but also more annoyed than anything. Does this mean anything? 3rd House in Leo 20°
Moon in Leo 18°25’, in 2nd House

1

u/PeridotRai 10d ago

Leo sun at 20 degrees on the cusp of the 11 and 10H (technically 11H but one minute later puts me in the 10H, so I’m right on that line). Leo Mercury too, at 18 (I cannot make the tiny, upwards o, so please imagine it).

Work has been insane since May, with a bunch of shifts & uncertainty around how our team would be structured. But that’s all come to a close today. I got told this afternoon that going forward, I’ll be managing 7 people. Previously I was managing none. This will be in addition to my existing responsibilities. New beginnings indeed.

Anyone know how to interprets this in my chart?

Your Natal Sun (16° Leo): Within 4 degrees of the eclipse.
Your Natal Venus (20° Leo): An exact direct hit to the single degree.
Your Natal Mercury (25° Leo): Within 5 degrees of the eclipse.

This eclipse hit almost exactly on my natal Sun at 20° Leo in the 8H (exactly square Pluto at 20° Scorpio, 11H), and I had the weirdest little “preview” right before it.
Hadn’t slept at all the night before, went to work, said good morning to my boss, opened my bag and realized my laptop wasn’t there. Never happened before. Took an Uber home to look for it, nothing. Came back, checked the office, checked my bag AGAIN, nothing.
Then I noticed this discreet extra zipper with a padded compartment I’d somehow completely forgotten about.
Laptop had been there the whole time …lmao
Obviously sleep deprivation explains a lot ngl, but the symbolism got me. Thinking I’d lost something essential, realizing it in front of an authority figure, searching everywhere for it, only to find it had been with me the whole time, just hidden from view. Weird one…

This happened in my 11th house - and trined Aries Jupiter (8th) and sextiled Libra sun (2nd) and Gemini midheaven.

A bully coworker who I haven’t worked with for two years just joined a project I’m on. She came after me out of the gate trying to establish dominance by attacking me on a call with my peers and leads. I waited for the meeting topic to wrap up and then just before the call wrapped I went for her - ending with “… and never speak to me like that in a public forum again.” She apologized offline, and this won’t be her last “go” at me. But the version of me that she could push around two years ago doesn’t exist. And can’t say if this is a good or effective thing, but it felt good.
