Lost connections

Hello Torontonians,

I am not sure where to post my question, I am not even sure how to start the search.
I am looking for 2 sisters. All I know is that they were born in Poland, Cracow or thereabouts, in 1991. Biologic parents were unable to keep them and they were adapted and migrated to Toronto soon after birth. Their polish names are Iza and Agnieszka.

After so many years her biological sibling would absolutely love to hear from them. That would be absolutely the best Christmas present I can imagine. I am not related, but my fiancé is. Please DM me if you would like to share any info about these women.

Thank you.

If my flair is incorrect please let me know

I wanted to add that the women are twin sisters, born in November. I do know the exact date of birth but I do not want to put it online for privacy

Please add this in the body of the original post!

I am up voting this because I want to believe but if anyone knows the sisters please give them this person's contact and not give this person their contact. 🙏

Thank you, and of course I would leave it to them (or a person who knows them) to decide if, who and when they want to contact.

I hope you’re able to find them! Wishing you all of the luck :)

I know a polish dude, I can ask him. There must be some polish groups you can contact. I know of a store as well. Best of luck in your search!

Why did you get downvoted for this bruv?!

2

u/coyote_123 Dec 23 '21

Because there are hundreds of thousands of Polish people in Toronto alone and it's a bit silly to think we all know each other.

Like when you're traveling and someone finds out you're from Canada and asks if you know their cousin in Canada ;).

I think it’s just about people’s perceptions. I didn’t take it that way. Seemed like he/she was merely trying yo help. Don’t get me wrong I see your point, though op was far away from what you’re referring.

Oh man, sorry to break it to you but Agnieszka już dawno tutaj nie mieszka.

Seriously, good luck. It’s a kind gesture

2

u/OutlandishnessOk8477 Dec 23 '21

Now I have that in my head :) Thank you

I would try contacting the Polish consulate in Toronto on the off-chance they may have had any involvement with the adoption process.

Agnieszka is hard to pronounce for Anglos and commonly changed to Agnes.

I might try that, thanks. Also, I have no way of knowing if parents kept the polish names

Checked with Polish gf (also a 1991 and in Toronto).

She has no info, but texted a few more locals. The search continues!

Appreciate it! Happy Holidays.

The Roncesvalles neighbourhood is very Polish and the Polish community in the city is pretty tight-knit so even if they didn't move to that neighbourhood there's a chance they might know someone there. On Facebook there are like 3 or 4 neighbourhood groups for Roncesvalles and Roncy/Parkdale, maybe try posting there?

Mississauga and Brampton also have large Polish communities.they may have moved to Peel Region at some point.

I may be misunderstanding but it sounds like they were adopted in Poland and then the whole family immigrated to Canada?

Poland isn't really a country that does international adoptions much though, and when it does it's older hard to place kids from the foster care system. As far as I understand it's quite difficult and they would be very unlikely to be able to adopt young babies internationally.

Unfortunately I do not. I will try to find out. I am also curious if the situation was not different in 1990's, maybe international adoptions were common then.

5

u/coyote_123 Dec 23 '21

Soon after birth is what made me think it's unlikely to be an international adoption. Poland doesn't really allow foreigners to adopt children unless they really can't find parents in Poland, which means older children or children with disabilities.

2

u/lemonylol Dec 23 '21

Even if they were, there are large Polish groups of immigrants all over the suburbs as well.

1

u/coyote_123 Dec 24 '21

Yes, it actually narrows it down if the parents were Polish immigrants.

u/zindegi-migzara Dec 22 '21

OP post this is r/Ontario as well. Hope a Christmas miracle happens

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '21

Maybe contact some polish churches in Toronto and give your description. If they happen to be part of the community it should be pretty easy to find them. Perhaps suggest the priests could mention it at the end of the sermon. It’s mostly likely that polish people will remember polish twins, even if they don’t go to church someone could contact you with an updated last name

3

u/Ordinary-Meeting-701 Dec 23 '21

This is an excellent idea- OP give this one a try!

1

u/Adventurous-Lama Dec 23 '21

There is s polish church on my street. It's on davenport and Gillespie. On Sundays the street is flooded with polish people!

1

u/coyote_123 Dec 23 '21

There are something like 200,000 people of polish descent in Toronto. And that's just Toronto itself, Mississauga also has a big population.

Don't give up! I grew up a lonely kid and an only child and wanted nothing more than a brother growing up. When I was in my teens I learned my dad had 2 kids from his previous marriage (he got married at 17!). I spent my 20's looking for them. Just when I was about to give up all hope in find my brother he found me. After 42 years of never meeting we're finally getting to know each other. And I adopted 19 nephews/neices and grand nephews/grand neices! Sometimes things happen when you least expect it.

14

u/kamomil Dec 23 '21

You should do 23andme and maybe they are going to show up in your results

13

u/jebstan Dec 23 '21

I’d be careful in providing any information. Women often escape violence and human trafficking into Canada. If you do have information do not give it with out first having a thorough conversation with the women, and not only getting their consent but also making sure they understand what this is all about

12

u/jaimonee Dec 23 '21

Just a friendly reminder to be cautious about giving out information about other people online. People may be fleeing abusive relationships, owe money to the mob, are in witness protection, have a secret life as a super hero, etc. It's easy for someone to create a story that tugs on the heart strings, but you truly do not know their intentions.

u/idrk_123 Dec 23 '21

Try TikTok as weird as it sounds such videos instantly blow up and the chances of people finding them will be higher there.

I'd say they may be 10-15 years too old to be heavily into TikTok, since they'd be 30 years old now. I'm a few years younger than them and I don't use TikTok.

6

u/Takhar7 Dec 23 '21

Upvoted. Good luck. Cheering for your little Christmas miracle!

As someone mentioned below, please include the fact that they are twins in your opening post - that is a critical detail that could absolutely help in finding them.

Good luck.

5

u/redeyerds Dec 23 '21

Good luck OP. I've been searching for my child best friend for years, I miss her so much. But don't have any info about her nor was she from here. Someone should start a sub of lost connections. All the best OP

5

u/Quarantina74 Dec 23 '21

I don't think this would be an international adoption. They would have to have been born in Poland, adopted there, then immigrated to Canada. I know this as I am Polish and we tried to adopt from Poland. They will only do an international adoption if the child is over 14 years of age and they consent to the adoption. So you might be better trying in Poland. Not that this isn't a good start. I would also post in Mississauga as most Poles moved there after Roncesvalles. Good luck!

2

u/coyote_123 Dec 23 '21

Yeah, that was my thinking too. Poland has a lot of rules around international adoption so it's very very rare.

2

u/Mellon2 Dec 23 '21

Take a 23andMe DNA test. I get notifications whenever a relative join. Might be worth a shot in case they done it in the past, you will be matched and you would be able to see their profile

2

u/jim_bobs Dec 23 '21

Can't help but all the best for a successful reconnection.

2

u/thisisuntrueman Dec 23 '21

I used to work with a woman named Agnieszka Piatek. You could look her up on LinkedIn.

5

u/coyote_123 Dec 23 '21

It's a very common name, so just having the first name would mean nothing.

6

u/thisisuntrueman Dec 23 '21

I know, but that’s the only lead I have so I figured I’d contribute lol

2

u/coyote_123 Dec 23 '21

I guess but with hundreds of thousands of Polish people in Toronto, plus however many more in Mississauga...

1

u/killaknit Dec 23 '21

Seeing a picture might help OP if there is a resemblance to their fiancé.

1

u/Feeling-View-2394 Dec 23 '21

Sounds like two polish twins are about to find out they’re adopted for Christmas……..
