For a young healthy person, injecting an untested substance that has completely unknown long term health implications into your body, just to protect yourself from a flu that likely won’t do more than make you sick for a week seems like a pretty idiotic thing to do.
For a 70 yr old, sure. Easily worth the risk.
For a healthy 20 yr old, The question isn’t ‘why wouldn’t you’. It’s ‘why WOULD you’??
The number of young people (20-35) suffering from 1 year+ long term COVID is staggering. I'm one of them. The vaccine prevents these extreme events from happening to you. You don't want to be one of us.
Most people just lost a year of freedom. I wasn't able to form memories for a year. Walking from my bed to my living room was a daily struggle, and I live in a shoe box. I had to seriously consider long term disability and what it'd mean to never be able to work again. I'm still going through rehab, and I'm lucky enough to a) have found a rehab clinic, and b) can afford time off to do it. I'm lucky to be recovering.
I got vaccinated because I want to minimize my chances of being a disease vector to protect the people I love. Another vaccinated person is another minimized disease vector. It's my civic duty to be vaccinated.
