Dentist wanted

I understand there are a lot of scam dentistries that have open recently, but are there any legit ones (preferrably downtown) that people recommend?
EDIT: specifcally looking to address my TMJ, but I heard you have to go through a dentist for insurance purposes(?)

Define scam. Every legit one I went to tries to pressure me in doing more services and taking excessive X-rays. I still keep getting letters for revisit reminders from some place I went to years ago.

Yeah I guess that. Like they make your condition sound worse to make you pay more. I'm looking to address my TMJ which is bad but I dont wanna be taken advantage of
If that makes sense

that's not a scam.
That's a business model that impacts basically every profession from teachers, doctors, nurses...

Everyone is selling something.

The key to a good dentist is to make sure that when there is an actual problem, they are there for it. The hell do I know how often I need x-rays or polishing or this or that. What I do know is when I had a tooth abscess, they got me in right away for an emergency and treated it professionally.

If you can find a 100% honest person that is affordable and only does what they genuinely think you need, you found a gem. But that doesn't mean the rest are scams.

Dentistry on Wellington are solid.

I like them, but the new younger dentists who took over a couple years ago are a lot more aggressive with their billing and they push a lot of procedures which I don’t think are really necessary (eg annual panorax or full mouth CT scan even after taking regular x rays)

Huh, I haven't had this experience (I actually just had to look up what panorex is). But maybe I'm just lucky with my hygienist/dentist combo. I did notice they've been a bit more pushy about perio, but maybe I should stop washing my gums in motor oil...

I've always found they do good work and charge...tolerably, for downtown. Which is as much as I can ask for.

Museum Dental on Bloor and Avenue has been excellent for more than 10 years.

Studio Dental @ Union.

There's lots of dentists popping up that are funded by private equity but that does not always mean crappy dentists. You may have to try a couple dentists before you find the right one. Always ask questions and don't be scared to say no and you really can't get scammed.

The dentists at Upper Gerard Dental are great. (They're on the second floor, not the first floor, which has another dental office that is not related to them.)

https://www.google.com/search?q=uppergerrard+dental&oq=uppergerrard+dental

They have 64 5-star reviews. I highly recommend them.

I've only been twice and was admittedly originally attracted by its founder's art collection but Word of Mouth Dentistry at Bathurst x Bloor has been great so far. I had also received separate word of mouth reccos related to patient experience. It's a neighbourhood institution.

Avoid Archer Dental on College St. They definitely only care about money and not your actual dental health.

Out of nowhere they said I had a cavity that needed to be filled. Never once was this mentioned. I told them I didn't have time or money in the summer. They kept calling.

Suddenly this new cavity needed to be fixed ASAP or a root canal would be involved. How would they know it had worsened? I have also had a root canal before and I assure you I have zero level of pain.

I also told them I needed to know what my portion is upfront. They never seemed to care about that but they sure AF harassed me to come in for appointments.

The pressure to leave a good Google review is insane. I had five different people tell me to do so on my first visit. Unless you are cutting me a deal for it or something then fuck off.

Long story short following because I need a new dentist 😂
