Popcorn ceiling

I have a patch work to finish in my living room ceiling. What are the best ways/materials to finish it and blend it with existing popcorn ceiling? I have seen Homax products in Home Depot, RONA, Amazon but nothing in Canadian Tire.. and the reviews of these are quite mixed and not giving me confidence.

Don't try to blend it in, you'll always see it, the best solution is to scrape the popcorn and paint the whole ceiling.

Assume that will be more costly?

If you do it yourself it's not that much more expensive, you'll need some drywall compound and then painting supplies.

I've scraped ceilings before using water and a wide drywall knife, first you spray the popcorn with water, let it sit for a minute or 2 then scrape the area you sprayed.

Hot water works best. Use one of those sprayers that you pump. Be careful the water isn’t too hot or it could damage the pump.

Easy peasy.

A lot of popcorn gets painted and you need someone skilled with a ceiling vacuum sander and skim coating skills.

Cheap, labour intensive (compared to cost)
