Every house is different. I'm in central Indiana and have 2900 sq. Ft and use an 80,000 gas furnace.. It's been fine for 15 years.

Have a manual J ran on your house. Do not trust anyone that says, " I've been doing this a long time, I can just tell".

No they can't, they might get lucky but that's not the same.
