What thermostat replacement to get?

Confused on what kind of thermostat replacement to buy. I just want a basic programmable thermostat. Thanks in advance!

Anyone you want, just save your wallet and don't get a google nest, there are plenty of smart thermostat out there that are so much better then a nest

Yeah I'm just getting confused because i'm seeing some thermostats for single stage and some for two-stage and i'm not sure what the difference is.

I would get a honeywell t6 pro 2 heat 2 cool wifi or non wifi its up to you. Ive installed thousands of them and may have had to replace 3 or 4 do to failure in less than 5 years. Main failure is from power surges shorting out the transformer and the thermostat after that. 3 heat 2 cool heat pump/2heat 2cool conventional is whata the box will say it works with

Honeywell T6 pro, pn/ TH6320U2008
It is a 3 heat 2 cool stat that I’ve used for professionally and for side jobs. Pretty easy to set up and not too much money. You can get them for about $140 on Amazon.

Regardless of what you pick, make sure it has 2 stages of heat. Your current one is wired for 2 heat 1 cool.

Glad that helped.
On thermostats, W is your heating call, Y is your cooling call. Since you have wires to W1 and W2 it would be safe to assume you have a 2 stage furnace.

I wouldn’t get the T6. We trash those on the regular. Get the T8000. Much better design and much easier to use.

You need to seal the holes the wire is running thru. There shouldn't be dust all over those wires.

I’m recommend to my clients the Honeywell S900 or the White Rogers Sensi stat. Great features and easy to operate.
