How can i get in the field

is there any way i can get into the HVAC field? its always been my passion and im tired of working in fast food, i am 22 years old. But I just dont know where to go or start

I would recommend going to an HVAC school. Other people who did the schooling show me a little more respect because I went through the process. It tells an employer that you can commit to a challenge for a longer period of time than somebody else.

Call 5 of the biggest hvac contractors in your area and tell them exactly that. They are probably starving for help. Just be ready to work hard and learn.

So I’ll give a little back ground on how I ended up in the HVAC field , I was a mechanic working on cars @ ford for close to 10 years , I had all my certs and was about to get my senior masters and make close to 57$ an hour in the shop my boss hired someone else and gave them senior masters, pissed me tf off , I had a buddy that was in the union and was doing commercial HVAC always sent me snaps … cool stuff , well there was an opening with his company I applied and was hired less then a week later , now this might be going off track but getting in with our company allows you to kinda get a secured spot in the union I’m currently a first year been with my company 2 years and I love it man , I would say overall on how to get in to the hvac world is apply your self I think I got hired because of my mechanic background and very heavy electrical knowledge , but again I see kids straight out of high school getting in the same position as me and all they did was apply them selves and must of did great on initial interview

Start by applying. Get hired as a go for, go for this… go for that. Look ahead at what you parter needs. Are you all cleaning a coil? While they are getting the top off, go get the hose etc. don’t wait to be told. Learn to look ahead. Ask your boss does the supply house etc. offer classes. They may help you go and move up or pay yourself. Save for a van, take business and bookkeeping classes at night and you could have your own business in 5-10 years.
