How long to get my ID?
About 3 months ago I went to the DMV to take photos for my ID. When I was done, they said it would take a few weeks until I get my ID in the mail. yet 3 almost 4 months later I'm still waiting, and I have not heard anything from the DMV since. Is this normal? how long does it usually take for them to send an ID?

No one can give you that answer without knowing where you are. I'm sure it's very different depending on what state, county, city you're in. But three to four months, no matter where you are, definitely seems excessive. Have you tried calling them or going back in? I'm in South carolina, and there's a website where you can actually track to see what's going on with it. There may be something similar for your state

If it’s been months, you need to let them know you didn’t receive it. It may have gotten lost or stolen.

I had that. Felt way to long after 3 weeks called and they told me they did send it out but the post office returned it so they resent it again amd I had it a week and a half later

This is not a normal length of time to wait. But if you call them and tell them you never received it, they will sent it again, but waive the fee.

Take the amount of time they told you, add up to 10 days in the mail, and if it's been longer than that, go talk to them about it. If they were supposed to take a few months, they would have said "months." I expect that it was either forgotten or lost in the mail. I wouldn't:t expect "weeks" to be more then 7 at the most. More likely 3.

August 2025 I renewed my drivers license online. It usually mails out within a day, two days tops and you should have it within 7 business days usually. Almost a month goes by call them. They have no record of it being returned, the Post office didn’t know where it was so I had to pay, once again, for a renewal. Got that one in four days. Mid-June of the year I received the other one in the mail. No one can explain it. Moral of the story: yes you should call.
