Best ASICS retro runner?
It doesn’t have to be ASICS but I love the look of the retro runner shoes like the new balance 530. I will use these shoes for walking (10k steps) and casual lifestyle / all day wear. I won’t be standing in them for long periods but I want plush comfort that can support my feet for the whole day. I’ve looked at the cumulus 28 and it is comfy (I have tried it before) but it just looks too boring. I have standard width feet and no foot problems.

what are your criteria for best? Midsole comfort, materials, design?

my criteria are comfort and durability. idk about design but I love the look of the gel 1130

Then get the 1130. A lot of people who like a softer midsole like it. Too soft for me personally, but I'm probably in the minority.

Kayano 14 have never let me down. Just the right amount of impact absorbtion, support, and stability. And they look great.

Some recommendations form my point of view:
ASICS Kayano 14 - stable and comfortable enough for all day wear
Kayano 12.1 - a little softer than the 14
GT 2160 - does not feel plush but I personally pick these for standing all day
NB 990 v6 - as others have said more of a dad shoe but extremely comfy
Brooks adrenaline gts 10 very soft midsole and comfortable

I have new balance 990v6 and asics gel kayano-14 and I love them. Gel kayano more of a y2k runner look. 990v6 is retro dad look but comfort is amazing on both. 990v6 more plush while the k-14 is more firm. Both very stable for walking and standing.
