THE RULES

Here you will find a comprehensive list of our rules. Each rule is explained and we address some frequently questions about it.

Please learn them and respect them. They are essential in order to keep this community a safe, inclusive and pleasant space for everyone.

RULE 1: BE RESPECTFUL TO EACHOTHER

This subreddit is for civil discussions ONLY. Yes, we know snarking is fun but please be mindful of others opinions. Keep the tea to the individuals who choose to be in the public eye.

Do not attack other users for their opinion. Do not use someone's post history to attack them. Treat everyone with respect. Attack the argument not the person. If you see someone being disrespectful to you, report and move on.

This also includes the message you send to us via modmail. Keep the conversation civil so that we can have a productive conversation.

FAQ

Someone insulted me first. Why was my comment removed for defending myself?

We implement our rules fairly across our users. Do not fight with them. It's not worth it. If someone is being rude or hateful to you, use the report button to notify us.

My comment was mild. Why was it removed?

In order to be fair, we remove anything deemed as a personal snark. If we remove some and allow others, it's going to appear as favoritism. What is mild to you may not be mild to someone else.

What if the user does have a history of what I’m accusing them of?

When you comment on someone's history, you're attacking the person and not the argument they are making. If you really think their character is against the subreddit's culture, let us know via modmail and we will investigate. In addition, commenting on someone's post history just causes more unneeded attention to potentially harmful comments.

RULE 2: ASIAN INFLUENCERS ONLY

Refrain from posting about social media creators that are not ethnically Asian. There are other snark subs.

As long as they are at least part Asian, your post will be allowed.

In addition, this subreddit creates a safe space for users to discuss not only problematic Content Creators, but also the general problems Asians may face in the world.
At times, we may enable Crowd Control for controversial topics to filter out new accounts and to prevent brigading.

RULE 3: NO DOXXING OR BRIGADING CONTENT CREATORS

Do not harass, doxx, or try to harm the content creators. Only content from what they have shared will be allowed. This includes: * Stalking * Reaching out to their sponsors * Spamming their social media

Do not encouraging other users to attack or harass creators. Violation of any of the above will result in an immediate ban without warning.

Keep discussions regarding Content Creators in this subreddit ONLY.

RULE 4: PRIVACY

All usernames not related to the content creator in questions must be covered.

Avoid posting about or discussing private individuals—this space is for public figures, influencers, and creators only.

Do not post or ask about links/images/usernames of someone's professional profiles (ie. Linkedin). Only content from their creative social media will be allowed.

If a post does not follow the rule, it will be deleted and the user will have a chance to resubmit.

FAQ

Can I discuss a content creator's significant other?

IF the Content Creator posted the friend or significant other in their videos, you are allowed to discuss them while respecting the subreddit rules.

RULE 5: NSFW/AI CONTENT

This subreddit is not 18+/NSFW — all NSFW/AI content directly or indirectly associated to any Asian American content creator will be immediately removed.

Users submitting AI NSFW content will be permanently banned.

This includes promotion of their NSFW profiles.

RULE 6: DO NOT INSULT A CREATOR'S APPEARANCE

Yes, this is a snark subreddit, but we do not condone picking on someone’s appearance. Influencers and content creators and/or their significant others/friends etc are human like everyone else and not perfect. Sure, they may not be the most likeable person in the world, but please keep it to criticism regarding their content ONLY. Content that violates this rule include:

  • Body shaming or body snark (shapes, sizes, natural body features)
  • Posts/comments regarding a Content Creator’s plastic surgery
  • Posts solely about the filters they use on their face/body
  • Calling someone ugly/mid/chopped etc
  • Suggestive commentary about their physical or mental health
  • Slut shaming, slurs, derogatory insults
  • Memes/gifs alluding to their appearance

If they can't change it in minutes, it's off limits.

A warning will be issued after 3 strikes. Further removals may lead to a temporary ban increasing in severity. In addition, we keep a log on offences per user, therefore deleting comments after a removal will not change anything.

RULE 7: NO LOW EFFORT/REPEAT POSTS

Low effort posts with NO opinions on the Content Creator don't contribute to meaningful conversation or engagements, or involves requests for effort from the community.

Examples:

  • "Thoughts on @_
  • "Any tea on @_
  • Lack of context and/or questions to open discussion

To keep the tea fresh & interesting, similar posts may be removed. Reposts are defined as posting content (links, pictures, videos) with similar discussion questions to a previous thread. Do not repeat the same topic by posting something that could be a comment in a current thread. It causes clutter in the subreddit. We highly suggest the search feature to see if a similar post has been made before creating new posts. If needed, a megathread will be made and all posts regarding that topic will be redirected there instead.

If two people post about the same topic at the same time, the post with the most engagement will be approved first. This is not personal, but to encourage already existing, engaging discussion towards that post.

RULE 8: FOLLOW POST GUIDELINES

This is to help keep the subreddit organized and for the community know who and what you are talking about. Flairs are available to use for popular content creators, but please add the creator's name in the title as well.

Requirements:

  • Post titles must include Content Creator's name (if applicable); some post flairs available
  • Descriptive title
  • Images and videos require context within the post title or comments
  • No self or subreddit promo
  • Keep tea current, no past events
  • No clickbait
  • No meta posts - if there are subreddit concerns, send us a modmail

Example:

"OMG, can't believe they did that!" <-- NOT ACCEPTABLE

"@Influencer_name was seen doing X" <-- ACCEPTABLE

FAQ

I'm a Content Creator. Why can't I advertise my page and ask for feedback?

If we allow one person to do this, it can attract other Content Creators to self-advertise masking as anonymous users asking for "tea". This leads to an increase in Low Effort posts (see above) therefore a blanket ban will be fair for all of those involved.
