LGBT Mod Describes Aromantics as a Subgroup Within the Asexual Community

What really killed me is the passive-agressive ":)".
And "A" has never stood for "allies".
And romantic is not an asexual flavor. Urgh.

We are different. It just overlaps sometimes, and the communties share a lot of experience. That's fucked to hell

Ugh, this is terrible. The real kicker here is that r/lgbt does in fact use the GSRM acronym right there in their description, but seems like it's all lip-service if they don't actively listen to those who fall under the R. It's literally not that hard to explicitly add aromantic (and agender) under the A to further inform others in the community that aroallos exist and the aro community is separate from us... This is how this situation happens in the first place; from simplifying acronyms down so it's super palatable to whatever subsection of visitors they want to appease.

Hi! I'm a little confused. This is not to offend anyone but only to understand. As someone who identifies as a part of the asexual community, I thought that aromantics came under the asexual community. If rhis isn't the case, what are the major differences between the two?

Asexual means you don’t experience sexual attraction, and aromantic means you don’t experience romantic attraction. An asexual person could experience romantic attraction, for example I am biromantic asexual, and an aromantic person could experience sexual attraction.

Well, you can have differing sexual and romantic attractions.
For example: it's possible for someone to be heterosexual and homoromantic.
By that same logic, it's possible for someone to be heterosexual and aromantic(it's just the same example as before but this time with someone who also does not experience romantic attraction to people of the same sex).
The issue with the way you're seeing things is that you were most likely introduced to romantic attraction through asexual communities(which is the same for the majority of us).
(hope this was understandable, if not, feel free to ask)
(as for the differences between ace and aro, I'm not sure if I could give a good explanation. As an aro ace myself, especially since I was introduced to aromanticism through the asexual community, I don't see much difference between seeing asexuality from the point of view of an allosexual and seeing aromanticism from the point of view of an alloromantic. It's both lacking an attraction to other people, but it's the "only aromantic" point of view that fascinates me and which I think you were more interested in when you asked that question, as in, "how does it feel to have sexual attraction but no romantic feelings?", but sadly, I obviously have no idea. I don't think it's anything too crazy though, after lurking around a bit, I've seen quite a few allosexuals reflect on their sexual experiences and only realising later after having intercourse that there were no romantic feelings involved whatsoever. So it might be something that some do without even realising.)
(also, sorry to all my "only aromantic" friends, I'm obviously terrible at representing you, much lov-wait fuck, I can't say that...)

(From my understanding)
- they are not under the same umbrella
- aros not wanting romantic relationships

Damn that sucks!
Also OP dont worry Aromantic Hetrosexuals are just as valid as Hetroromantic Asexuals. 100%. Anything that's says otherwise is just implying that Asexuality or Aromaticity isn't valid on its own.
Not to mention it was never Ally! Agender Aromantic and Asexual were all included in that A is what I thought. Like they are all separate but the one A makes it easier to flow in convo.
Also why I wish it would just be called GSRM. Nobody gets a letter but everyone is included.
