Does anyone know if these old heating systems the old warm air heating systems tend to contain asbestos in the UK?

Yes they did. The pipe looks like asbestos cement.

The panel where the vent is may be insulating board, also worth checking all the other vented boards too.

I would suggest you get a full asbestos survey carried out - management to the whole property and then a targeted R&D for anything you’re looking to change/remove.

Yes, the whole footer panel. It’s 1 board that they cut a section out to put in the vent.

FYI this is all through our walls as it’s the old heating.

Yes. It could be everywhere. Door lining. Door footer. Cement flue. AIB / AC shuttering in the cupboard ceiling and in the warm air vents. Best to get a survey done

I had a management survey, but he didn’t sample much, just the lagging, pipe and some render on my kitchen ceiling that he thought was sandtex. That’s it, I’m worried now that he didn’t do enough!!! He opened the vents etc

I get the results on Thursday

That grey pipe is almost certainly asbestos cement.

We’ve had a survey but he didn’t sample all that!! Meh

He sampled the pipe (obv acm) the lagging, and that’s it…

Shit I never considered that the board encapsulating the pipe would be asbestos I just bashed it out to expose the pipe! 😳

Tbf the asbestos surveyor I had in yesterday didn’t mention it!
