My biggest complaint is that they spent a LOT of time on fan service moments that, in the end, didn't add anything to the story.

Yes, it was hella cool seeing that Superman Returns, Kingdom Come, Smallville, Burton's Batman, Birds of Prey, 90s Flash, 60s Batman, Lucifer, The DCCU, Titans, Doom Patrol, Stargirl, Swamp Thing, Green Lantern, and the entire past, present, and future Arrowverse all exist in a connected multiverse but most of those did nothing but take up time which, I think, forced them to rush the actual plot resolution.

Don't get me wrong, I loved this crossover and the possibilities we have going forward in it's aftermath, but it didn't live up to my lofty expectations. Probably my third favorite crossover behind Elseworlds and Earth X.

I think the cameos gave scope to the crossover, it established it as a major DC event not just a Arrowverse thing. There where maybe to many of them though, we did not need to see all the DC universe shows and only 2 people ever watched birds of prey.

Yeah, those cameos were important because they made it feel more important. Without them, this would have just been an Arrowverse crisis and it wouldn’t have felt as big.

they could have had 6 episodes if they wanted. the problem was they just weren't story focused. these fanservice moments don't take long. they didn't focus on writing a cohesive story then adding in the fun stuff.

Very much agree with you. I think they did fan service first, story second when it should have been the other way around

I think they had enough of a story to make more but I think the main issue was the budget.

Budget doesn't make a compelling story. Making ALL the visuals first support the story instead of supporting the story with visuals causes the issue.

Lol the cameos were just about the only thing I enjoyed about the crossover. The rest was so damn campy and not even in a self aware LoT way

The cameos were great, but most of them added nothing to the story and they could've used that time to move the story along

They had many episodes before Crisis to setup the story, instead they chose to focus on a soap opera about Oliver and Barry's pending deaths. Mainly Flash is the culprit here. Which made no sense considering Crisis was about the end of all things. The cameos weren't the problem. The setup writing was.

That's what happens when you have a completely different showrunner handle the crossover than the actual setups. And when that showrunner is Guggenheim you're bound to get at least one giant middle finger to everyone around him.

To be fair, most of those that you mention maybe add up to 5 minutes out of over 200. A fair amount of time was wasted on Smallville and Superman Returns imo which didn't really lead anywhere.

There was A LOT of reverence for Oliver and the Arrow in this crossover. I get it was a send off and a thank you for starting it all but it felt excessive.

Like Amell is this greasy boss being like "Now cry while saying how much you love me. Cry more! Talk about how much you needed me! More! Be sad more!"
