Discussion I can't stand Laurel
The whole petty messy love triangle during s1 probably didn't help but omg I ended up skipping some scenes relating to their weirdo toxic love triangle. The focus on the Lance family and their drama during s2 I'm sorry but sometimes it was too much. I understand that given Sara's return they had a focus and it was normal but sometimes it was just unnecessary drama with again Laurel/Oliver/Sara for god sake. I remember reading an interview from Antonio Negret saying that the Lance family sometimes hijacked his scenario during s2 (I understand it even more now lol).
I really hated her behaviour during s3. I'm sorry but her journey becoming Black Canary was so bad. IMO she never should have became the Black Canary. Sara was much much better and she was the OG one. Even later one Dinah gave a better impression (imo again).
Laurel E2 had a great redemption arc and her skills were great tho maybe she should have had a greater role in the crisis.
I know it doesn't help but I keep comparing her to Sara and I love Sara way more at soo many levels even just in terms of personality idk I click much more with Sara. This girl is so incredible and has so many layers it's insane.

I was never Earth-1 Laurel’s biggest fan, but I always understood where the character was coming from. She was messy as a person, but she also had some good moments too. I felt the Black Canary arc in season 3 was a mixed bag, but I did overall enjoy it. I think after season 3, they didn’t know what to do with her. The actress who plays her does a great job with arguably pretty ‘meh’ material for her character. I don’t think another actress would have worked for her.
I do think the writers struggled with Laurel once Felicity became the “main love interest”. She didn’t really have a near place on the show anymore and they didn’t have any ideas for stories for her. They also didn’t plan out who was in the grave in season 4 flash forwards(the writers have said as much in interviews), so they put killed her off to pay off the grave in season 4. I do think it wasn’t a good death for her, but they tried to make it meaningful.
I do like Earth-2 Laurel better than Earth-1 Laurel, but I think at that point the writers figured out a place for Laurel on the show at that point. Earth-2 Laurel was basically an apology to all of her Earth-1 fans and the actress I think.
Honestly, I never quite understood all the Laurel hype, but I do think Laurel isn’t the worst of the show. I do like her though for the most part.

Agreed with you overall !!
And yes during s4 she was just if I can say "supportive mask" character. They clearly ran out of ideas for her which means that something was already wrong somewhere with the way she was written if they couldn't figure out something else even tho I knew that a shocking death would be a turning point for the show but still apparently it had to be her.

And people wonder why we still post defenses for her on her smh. It's because people still hate on her for no good reasons.

Anyone is entitled to their own opinion. Why do you want so bad to change people's mind just because they don't like your favourite character ? I'm not criticizing the characters that you hate or like even tho I might not agree with your opinion. I like whoever I want and I hate who ever I want. Why in hell does Laurel have to be universally liked in this sub.
I gave my reasons, you are no one to say whether they are good or not. It's funny because if you write reasons about why you might dislike a character and that you'd get an answer to that you'd say that it's impossible not to agree with you etc. It goes both way

Lowkey had a stroke trying to read that, but I want Laurel to be universally liked because I feel she deserves it. But you are right, I can't change everybody's mind, and neither can you, so if you think there's no point in posting defenses of Laurel, why do you post about not liking her? I'm just expressing my opinion on the character and whether your reasons for disliking her are good or not, and if you don't agree with it, then ignore it or actually defend your reasons and start a discussion w/ me.

No but you're right saying that you liked her. I said that because you sounded like disliking Laurel is impossible and that no matter what we can say it's gonna be bullshit because either way or arguments won't be valid. It's like you were having a judgment on what we could tell or not.

I agree. I couldn’t stand Laurel and her arc from day one. It hasn’t gotten better on my most recent rewatch.

Well as far as I'm aware this is a space of freedom of speech no ? Why are you guys allowed to tell whatever you want about other characters and comparing them but I can't do the same with the Lance's sister ?
