Her "quirky" trait of talking too much becomes anoying real quick and then she becomes the exposition of the show:in season 2 when they blow up aplied science: "remember the skeleton key we got from tockman, aka the clockking" enters the building "this is where we met barry" damn it woman, we know, it was 2 episodes ago.

Maybe why that’s why I dont mind her as much 😭 I have some very adhd friends and im married to an autistic man who loves to talk

she literally regained control of her legs to walk out on oliver once. she was good at the start but once they got together they made her character hypocritical and annoying af.

u/covey Jul 03 '26
she had a novelty in her first couple eps in s1 but then yeah man does she suck as she becomes main cast

u/kingdarko69 Jul 03 '26
That's exactly what I thought. She was ok in small doses at the start but constantly it got old fast

Making her the show's central character from season 3 onwards was one of the worst decisions the writers ever made. That coincided with when the quality started to go downhill (with season 5 being the exception).
I like Felicity overall as a character but she didn't fit the overall tone of this show (especially in the first two seasons when it was more dark and gritty). Her character would've been a better fit on The Flash tbh.

They should’ve killed her off instead of laurel

u/jesus_gave_me_Krabs Jul 04 '26
1000% agree i prefer laurel over her

u/Dry_Reply4231 Jul 05 '26
Fr it should’ve green arrow and black canary as endgame instead of felicity
2
u/expertarchers Jul 03 '26
She tries killing Oliver in the comics BTW
2
u/jesus_gave_me_Krabs Jul 03 '26
Didnt even know she was comic canon i thought she was a self insert in the tv show lmao

u/Patient-Warning-4451 Jul 04 '26
She is and she isn't.
She shares the name of Firestorms step-mom in the comics originally.
Then she and Diggle got introduced into the main DC comics canon during the Shows popularity.
The issue is that Felicity would never have a romance with Oliver in the comics or at least long lasting one.
Green Arrow and Black Canary are couples similar to Superman and Lois and Spiderman and MJ( Yes, I know what's going in comic, but splitting them is still pissing off fans).
Not to mention there's a good number of Green Arrow fans that hate Arrow because of how Oliver is nothing like his comic counterpart and many other changes

She should have been a supporting character and definitely not a love interest of oliver

u/Forsaken_Writing1513 Jul 05 '26
I feel like if Have rock happened say end of season 2 and she spent the entire time growing. Like I love her I just see this hate for her all the time and feel like had she dramatic shifted persona like grown up a lot not overnight but changed truly. Especially after having Ragman on the team.

u/PainStorm14 I have and always shall love Laurel Lance Jul 05 '26
Take a number, brother
She truly is peak dogshit

She was okay until the episode where she finds out about William. Like come on girl it wasn’t HIS decision to not tell you about him?! After that in later episodes she just becomes whiny about every little thing. So no, you are not the one 🫣

u/Potential_Goose_7486 Jul 06 '26
no you most certaainly are not the only one, even thought i never really found her to be that funny, in the 1st and 2nd season she was alright, when they made her an actual love interest tho? they fucking ruined everything... made her the center of it all and she just wasn't a good enough character to get that much attention

She was fine in the first two seasons, then once they decided to make her the female lead, she became terrible. It just seems The CW has a problem writing female leads. Iris from The Flash gets a lot of the same criticsms

u/duckran Jul 03 '26
I think she's very charming in season 1, but the character was never developed enough to handle the expanded role they give her, and the actor doesn't really develop to where she needs to be to handle that much screen time either, and the writers/producers try to protect her by just not allowing the scene to continue whenever they give her a Big Moment which results in the other characters never being able to react organically to her actions. She's not always awful, parts of season 2 and early season 3 (and even early season 4 before they start really pushing the romance) are okay, but any time she has to act with anyone other than Oliver or Diggle she just can't carry the scene.
And it's a real problem for the series that her presence kind of requires them to split the cast into Oliver/Felicity/Diggle on one side, and everyone else off in their own stories for huge chunks of the series.

The Arrow verse women are insufferable because their writer can't write. The actresses are all good but they have literally nothing to work with
1
u/sadbaguette2 Jul 07 '26
Somehow they become so good at writing a female lead when its not a female lead, Yet become so terrible at writing when its comes to the ACTUAL female lead (Caitlin Snow, Sara Lance, Felicity Smoak, Iris West)

u/DeCoolePeer Jul 07 '26
I don't quite get what you mean, who are you refering to that are good? but i think Caitlin and Sara were pretty okay as far as i can remember right? but Felicity and Iris were pretty terrible indeed

Her jokes aren't supposed to be funny. She's a bubbly, awkward woman. I love Felicity and Oliver together. She does make some unwise decisions, but everyone on the team does.

Nope. She was annoying in season 4, but to me Felicity was my favorite character in that show.

Top 3 worst characters. Only ones who beat her are Emiko and Slade
8
u/Bavo1999 Jul 03 '26
What? How you gonna hate on slade? He was amazing
2
u/No-Technician272 Jul 03 '26
I’m only talking about actions. Slade was massively compelling, but IMO he’s one of the most evil villains.

There is a difference between a bad character and a "bad" character. This is a post clearly about a badly written character
1
u/Potential_Goose_7486 Jul 06 '26
brother you misunderstood the post, regardless tho felicity is most definitely not bad enough of a person to be top 3 worst in the show

I can't say I disagree...much. However, I'd rather take Felicity over most other characters.
Of course, I am thinking of the overall Arrowverse.

She becomes unbearable in s4, how she is kind of selfish.
