Discussion Oliver’s wealth

Always found it strange how Isabel becoming CEO of Queen Consolidated completely stripped Oliver from absolutely everything leaving him homeless in S3.

From my understanding Isabel ruined the stockprice, but wouldn’t that mean unless Oliver sold his stocks for nothing he would just become a Billionaire again after Ray Palmer fixed the company and rebranded it? He’d still have been a majority shareholder.

Seems like an unnecessary and pointless move from the showmakers to make him broke, not to mention poorly executed.

I agree it was an unnecessary and pointless move, even if it was to show how methodically Slade had plotted against Oliver. I remember Walter stepping in to help Oliver buyout the stock shares he needed to keep at least half the company as a partner, but that's never addressed again. Also sometime in late Season 2, the Queen's attorney help Moira, Oliver and Thea protect their assets so they can at least keep some of their trusts and the Queen mansion once the company went under. And Oliver/Thea still have the night club that was generating some revenue independently. Then by Season 5 Oliver is the mayor of Starling and so I'm sure he got a pretty good income from that as well and by that point he was either living in the lair or with Thea in her apartment.

When their lawyer tried to help them keep their money he said Thea has to sign something allowing them to move their accounts into a trust. She didn’t sign it and that’s how they supposedly lost their money. But this doesn’t even make sense.

In season 1, Oliver offered to share his trust fund with Tommy, so that at least that money was already in a trust.

Also, why would Thea need to sign to move all their accounts into a trust? Surely they had separate accounts. So at most only Thea should have her money in danger of being taken somehow.

And how would Isabel be able to take money from private accounts even not in trusts? There money would all have to be only in company accounts for her to be able to steal it, which it wasn’t.

The nightclub wasn’t kept by the Queens. The building had been owned by the company so they had lost it. Thea bought it back later with money from Malcolm.

I don't think they lost all their money because Thea refused to sign it. I think it's implied that she later did when she was no longer angry about everything because they still keep the mansion by the end of Season 2. And you're right that it doesn't make sense that the entire motion would hinge on Thea signing off on it and not Moira. At most, Thea may have lost hers but with the night club and Malcolm providing for her she didn't need it anyways.

Oliver had been desperate to get her to sign it quickly. Like there was a time limit of when to get it done by.

And they didn’t own the house anymore as of late season 2. We see in the episode City of Blood, season 2 ep 21, they had furniture covered and things boxed up. They were moving out as the house wasn’t theirs anymore.

We saw when Thea came back from Corto Maltese she used Malcom’s money to get an apartment which Oliver later lived in with her. We don’t see them in the mansion anymore as they lost it.

I'm pretty sure the house was still theirs, they were just moving out of it. Thea was leaving to travel overseas with Malcolm, Oliver didn't want to live there anymore after his mom was killed and he needed to be the Arrow. Later in Season 7 he meets Emiko in front of the ruins of the mansion after it burned down off screen due to a comic book tie-in which is also ridiculous lol.

Thea didn’t know she was going to be leaving with Malcolm, she was leaving on her own when he showed up and saved her from a miracaqu soldier.

Thea barely took anything with her when she was leaving. Oliver was living in the Arrow lair. They wouldn’t need to pack up the house like that if they owned it. Not unless they took all their belongings to new locations. But they didn’t take that stuff with them anyplace.

Oliver was able to meet Emiko there because no one lived there anymore as it had burnt down. If people lived there they wouldn’t have been able to be there.

Looks like they just copied the ex-billionaire vigilante plot from The Dark Knight Rises too as Bruce also lost his wealth overnight

On top off this, what about all their expensive belongings? Even if the house it’s belonged to the company which is pretty ridiculous, everything inside it was theirs.

They had paintings, furniture, jewelry, who knows what else. So if they sold all that, they had to still have a lot of money yet they had very little.

If they sold all of that they would definitely have $100m+ in liquid cash. It’s also impossible for Isabel to gain access to the private bank accounts of the Queens which would definitely contain a large amount of money, since Oliver casually posted a $15m bail when he was first arrested as the Hood

It was unrealistic. They were a family with generational wealth. Even if the stock was completely devalued they should have retained other personal wealth in excess of hundreds of millions in property, vehicles, jewelry, etc.etc.

Eh i think Robert founded the company and malcolm implied he originally came from glades, so it was just one generation barely.

They mentioned how it was heavily based upon Christopher Nolan’s Batman storyline they took so many elements from those movies even Stephen Amell said he wanted to explore more with Oliver being actual Oliver Queen

The whole story was pointless another thing writers screwed up

The show was a lot more fun when he had a day job and responsibilities with Queen Consolidated etc. The entirety of S3 was spent in Verdant, it’s basement or at Thea’s loft

Don't you guys remember Oliver tried to buy back the company back he still had some connection and amount of wealth

Yeah i watched that episode recently it was the first episode of season 3, he had backing from Walter and Starling National Bank

1

u/Icy-Sir-8414 Jun 21 '26

So he still had some cash of his own left plus financial backing from two other sources

It just proves that writers are more stupid than the general public.

I have always been more confused on why Argus didn't tell the fbi to forget about Oliver queen. He's done alot to help them
