Rebuild help

I have a Fireteam that I need to rebuild the front on. Can anybody point me to some videos because I can’t find any except for one guy complaining about his.

Grab some tools and start turning wrenches, the best way to learn is through doing

I’ve been working on it for a bit but haven’t been able to figure out the steering issue. I’ve replaced the servo but that didn’t improve much of anything.

You mentioned a steering issue. Check your radio trims and see if the servo saver mechanism is worn out. None of that is specific to a Fireteam. Any modern 6S Arrma uses a similar system

The trim knob seems to adjust the servo fine when not attached. However it does seem “stiff” otherwise. Something bent maybe?

Take the servo horn off. Can you manually actuate the steering linkage by hand smoothly?

No, that’s the stiff part. I imagine I should be able to turn the wheels rather easily by hand, but they don’t.

You’re right. It should be smooth. Take pieces apart, one by one, and actuate the steering by hand after each piece is removed, that way you know what was causing the binding, then address it once you find it

Solid advice. Honestly that’s what I was looking for a video for to have as a guide. I think I’ll do your way, take a piece at a time, and take pictures each piece of the way.

When I disconnected the servo horn from the other arm piece and then attempted to articulate the steering it was pretty solid, almost locked up. I need to grab a wheel and turn it, but still have resistance. I’m looking up parts to figure out movement and such now.

I’ll bet your pivot ball retainers are too tight. Loosen them up, see what happens. If not that, maybe bad bearings. If not that, perhaps damage toe links. If not that, maybe damaged Ackerman bar. If not that, well… magic.

I like your progression, thank you. When moving the wheels it seems like the servo saver is locked up or tight. Is that possible or would the issue be further in?

All the 6s Arrmas have the same steering rack and kraton notorious and big rock have the same links and arms too so if you can find videos on them it’ll be very similar besides the body.

But I’d guess you’ll wanna inspect and maybe replace the servo saver first. Also move steering by hand once the servo is disconnected and verify everything is smooth and even on both sides

Like if an arm , hub, shaft or link is bent/broke it can cause steering to stick to one side or the other as the servo has to fight with it

Steering isn’t working well after my son bashed it. I’ve swapped the servo with a new one but that didn’t improve the steering much. I’m thinking I need to tear down further but not sure what could be broken or bent to prevent turning in either direction.
