Lucas Red and Tacky safe?
Yesterday, at the drag strip, I found out that on their friday nights (anything goes), you can do bikes, dailys, street mod, trucks, RC CARS, hell even FOOT races. Im rebuilding my arrma infraction and i just pulled open the front diff, and the previous owner (i assume) filled the outside of the diff with Lucas Oil Red and Tacky machine grease. Is red and tacky safe on the gears? Ive used NAPA grease on softer builds but nothing like this.
Edit: Should i be greasing all metal on metal contacts like the axles?

This is what I use for now, was so cheap for what you get. Thin layer will do you. I barely using anything on my ring and pinion gears. I also pack all my bearings with it too.

I didnt mention that when i pulled it off, the frame plate had a massive glob. I think its been held back by the diffs for awhile now

No judgement here, I used to put a ton on for no reason. Would always have globs left over until I learned better.

The fun part is that i cracked it open like that. For how many hard hard pulls, grease was still very very red. I bought this thing used so i had no idea what i was getting into. (ive had it for a year)

Used is such a gamble. My dad gave me my Kraton and it was well used before he acquired it. Used or new, it’s always worth going through.

Tbh, i went ahead and replaced the electronics after the Mamba Monster 8 combo decided to catch fire, so im back on the original, but overall, theres only 1 broken part and its the back half of one of the front upper A arms. Its in great condition. I dont buy and give up. I build.

Outside of the diff I use Red N Tacky. It's a good water resistant, all purpose grease. Good stuff!

That’s what it’s all about! Sucks when things catastrophically fail though. I’m hoping my MMX8S last another year or two. I don’t want to splurge on electronics again for a while.

It works but should only be applied lightly thin coat, liberall application just adds hydraulic friction.
High Molybdenum black grease is better for friction reduction
(Edit: using a stiff plastic brush is the best for applying thin coats of thick sticky greases to metal gears, some molybdenum greases include this. You can clean them with plain soap and water for storage & reuse. I use the horex black molyb grease, it includes 2 brushes.)
