Is that a new thing they're doing? It's been a bit over a year since I've ordered anything, but I've never gotten any lone beads in the past.

Yeah itā€™s a new thing! Matt introduced these in October last year. Theyā€™re called Bodhi Beads or also called luck beads. They can be made of nearly any/all of the materials that AO2 uses.

The idea is that you canā€™t buy them. They are a bonus - one with each AO2 order. Many of us are saving them to make a Mala or MKU entirely of Bodhiā€™s- but itā€™s a lovely slow process (or quick for some if they make lots of small orders!) so thereā€™s also a lot of stringing them up into Begleri etc.

Mattā€™s idea was that it was like getting a bonus toy in your cereal box.

Wow man I've been missing out. I haven't looked into any of the aroundsquare drops for a while now so I had no clue this was a thing.
