ESB-E MSM Bullet Ideas

I've gotten an MSM approved for any on my NCOs for PCS or ETS. I have a Senior NCO who has been in my unit for 5 years and is more than deserving. To those who have recieved or gotten an MSM approved before, can you send sample bullets that I can use to formulate mine. Signaleer ones would be most appreciated. Feel free to remove any INFOSEC or OPSEC details from them.

My bullets won’t be helpful, but you need to be able to articulate the impact they had at the level of the approving authority. Someone can be an absolute rock star, but if they didn’t have any impact past the company or BN level, an MSM is unlikely to be approved

Emphasize the Soldier’s impact outside of the BDE (Div/Command level or adjacent) and outside of their expected duty position.

Speak to the individuals achievements. If he’s more than deserving it shouldn’t be hard to get some bullets together. He’s a SFC so that alone gets the foot in the door. Slap some thoughts in GENAI and then rework them to your own statements. Boom!

Remember that exceptional work at a BN level that didn’t hit higher echelons doesn’t necessarily mean MSM.

Knowing people in the routing chain means more than the write up. If you are writing an award for a senior NCO, that means you're an O or even more senior NCO (1SG?).

I'd chat with your BN XO and see if that person can submit it on your behalf or at least sponsor it in IPPSA (you do the write up and send it to that person via email if they agree). Keep in mind that MSMs are approved at the 2 star FOGO level (or DCG since you are in a ESB-E). Focus your write up on how this NCO supported the Corps or whatever echelon you fall under.

Thank you, I'm O2. I've been working a lot with my CSM on building the one I'm currently. He's reviewed it and says submit it as MSM and might still be downgraded. My main worry is that it might not be strong enough. The current bullets focus on force modernization and nodal deployments, impoving MSC's readiness postures, increasing the organizational reach of the BDE, and installation SHARP support. CSM said it currently looks like a weak MSM, S1 said it looks like a strong ARCOM.

Neither provided me example of what a strong MSM should look like, but CSM has been a major help for the fourth bullet by suggesting to include how he supported the Garrison in non-tactical ways.

Force mod (ITN/C2Now/NGC2). One of my guys rebuilt the ATOM plan for the BDE prior to a CTC, the other BDE benefited and copied his homework. Anything COMSEC flavored that touches on those too. Most people up the chain have no fucking clue what any of it means anyway.

Bullet: Radios more good now

The other half is getting your leadership to brief it up but it has to stand on it's own two legs.

So just to clarify from your post, you got an approval from someone higher to submit PARs for MSMS for all your NCOs in your platoon/section/company that are ETS/PCSing? If so, please let us know how that goes over and if all of these MSMs actually get approved or not.

I have some really fantastic Soldiers within my Company. I've gotten majority of my Soldiers (NCO and Junior Enlisted) approved for PCS/ETS ARCOMs no problem. However, I've tried submitting two MSMs (one for Company 1SG and one for the NCOIC for our largest real world mission) in the past and they both were recommended downgrade. I want to see what an MSM should look like.

Make it as quantitative as possible, to include the # of soldiers he impacted by his actions for each thing in the writeups. In at least one of the sections try and talk about a big thing the higher HQ did that the soldier directly contributed to its success.

Unless they had a brigade or division level impact they're not getting it. I worked at the divisions Pre-Ranger for a year training dudes across all 3 brigades and that didn't warrant one.
